He was offered http://www.umhoops.com/2014/05/15/michigan-offers-four-star-guard-eric-davis/
Hard to believe that we are a viable option for Brunson now. Seems the coaches saw the handwriting on the wall. Will be very surprised if Davis doesn’t accept. I will be having a Porterhouse courtesy of mpBear sometime this holiday season. Dylan you remember that friendly bet right?

I thought Davis was a MSU kid? They must be going all in on Brunson. Although, I am not anywhere close to as bullish on Davis as MP, I am slightly curious about the roster fit. He seems to be a different mold of the combo guard Beilein has been recruiting. I like him though. Just curious of the vision that Beilein has for him.
I really don’t understand what is taking Coleman so long, Sviat was a pipe dream and MSU is a real and present threat for Harris.
If Davis accepts, I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of him + MAAR and Dawkins. I’ll live, though.
MpBear said Davis was a GLIAC talent. He has since seen the light! Davis will not wow you physically, but the kid can flat out score.it seems highly probable that the staff now knows that one ( probably Brunson ) of the Jalens is definitely trending elsewhere. Can’t envision any scenario where we would take all three. Perhaps this is also a comment on Harris’ true interest as well.

Let’s drop the personal beef/vendetta. We all understand how both of you feel.
I know people will disagree but the only way I can explain Huff, Brunson, Sviat, and maybe Coleman and Harris, all trending negatively is taking MAAR and Dawkins. I really hope that is not the case and an overreaction on my part.
I like Davis but he seems like a rich mans MAAR. A pure shooter would be ideal.

Friendly bet between UM diehards.

You nailed it buddy, hard to envision your fit with two four year players in the fold at your position. It is very possible that we strike out on all of the players you referenced, even Coleman.davis isn’t gonna wow you with his athleticism, but the kid can just flat out score. I’ve seen him 10 times over the last two years, and I will be very happy to have him on our squad. Especially when it appears that we are where he has always wanted to be. But who knows?
Don’t see how MAAR really scares off Coleman? But I guess people are going to make whatever argument they want.
Maybe I can see the case with Huff/Sviat (but it’s impossible to really know how much interest UM ever had), but I think Huff was more class balance with Chatman/Wilson already at the four possibly.
Dawkins is a frontcourt guy for at least a while. He’s 6-6 and he is not a ball handler – straight line driver, shooter and finisher. I don’t see similar prospects on Michigan’s recruiting board.
Man. I haven’t been following recruiting all that heavily so I’m not excited one way or the other about the offer. I will say… After that quick scouting report by mpbear, all I’ll think is “unathletic” and “emotional” for a great while, possibly until I see him in person for myself. I’m starting to get excited about DJ too, but after the whole “lateral quickness” thing from a former poster, I’ll still need to see that’s not an actual issue before I think otherwise.
My point? I hate preconceived notions especially from armchair talent evaluators.
I just want to know, why you think things look to be trending negatively with these guys? Especially Harris? I mean, up until November of last year, the only recruit we had, was Doyle (and Hatch, but he should have been a 2012 recruit). Leading up to Chatman’s commitment, not one expert had predicted Kameron to Michigan. So, what I’m asking is, why the panic? It’s May.
Dylan, its not just MAAR but Irvin, too.
And Dawkins is as comparable to Tim as he is GR3. I could easily see him at the 3.
Juug, I have no info on Harris other than inferencing. Alvin Ellis and Javon Bess would not scare me, if I’m Harris.
I don’t doubt we will get a top 100 guard but Davis was a plan D in most fans eyes just a few days ago.

Wondering if the Purdue connection and proximity to home will win out in the end for Harris? I don’t like our chances for any of the referenced above. Just my opinion. Hopefully Coleman is still enamored, even though still tight lipped.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

If we can’t get Harris then Purdue would make me glad.
MSU w/ Harris, Brunson and Davis/Coleman would make me pull my hair out.
Sure is a lot of chatter on their local sports talk shows about some imminent BB recruiting news. Whatever that means is anybody’s guess.
Well in 14’ we were led to believe they were locks for Okafor, Alexander, Looney, Jones, Ulis and Booker…hopefully the string of misses continue in 15’. It may of started already with that big guy from South Florida Egbunu headed to Florida.
I just don’t understand all the hand-wringing here at times.
I see no reason to think the Davis offer means anything with respect to Harris. If we were willing to take Harris and Coleman - and I imagine we were - we’re probably just as willing to take Harris and Davis.
I don’t see Harris at Purdue. They have a lot of wings - though none as good as him - and their program is down. He could go to MSU, but they do have Ellis and Bess. If Caris leaves after this coming year - which seems highly likely - Harris walks into the starting two guard spot on a very good team. What’s not to like about that? Irvin will keep playing the three in 2015, Chatman likely stays at the four.
I see the Davis offer as a sign that we are expanding our wing targets in 2015 and will take the first to commit between Coleman and Davis because we are about to shift into 2016 mode, where we feel very good about a number of big targets.
I would be surprised if we did not get one of Harris, Coleman and Davis, and I’d say we are more likely to get two than zero. And the great thing is, this staff is constantly evaluating new talent, so new targets always emerge and we’ve obviously done quite well with under the radar guys.

I don’t quite get this… Irvin, MAAR or Ellis and Best? And Harris isn’t going to assume best case scenario of LeVert leaving. If I am him, I don’t assume Dawkins, Chatman or Wilson don’t get minutes at the 2/3 either.
Guard development, offense and JB’s WVU connection are the angles UM has imo.
