idk why but that really frustrates me

The Duren thing reminded me of this good tweet

Bag effects are probably going to dominate early but eventually it’s going to shake out what a typical athlete vs. a starter vs. a star will make at these schools. You ain’t gonna see Memphis winning that recruitment 3-4 years from now.

same. I can’t stand Memphis

Hey if it’s not going to be here I’d rather it not be any contender either. Memphis doesn’t seem like a candidate to beat us in the postseason. They’d have to get to the postseason first.

They’d be pretty good even without him, they won the NIT and returned most of their guys and had a kick *** defense (Penny is still working on the offense…). Adding Duren would make them easily top 10 preseason

Penny is still working on making the tournament.

Top 10? Let’s pump the brakes and maybe say top 25. They weren’t even in ESPN’s too early top 30 without him.

And do you trust that list? Haha

Maybe top 25 with Duren? They ended last year 31st on KenPom. Torvik has them top 10 now without Duren. I’d say adding the #1 pick would be enough to vault to the top 10 in the preseason. Whether they finish there is not as clear but their defense should give them a clear floor in the top 25 imo

Memphis 2021 was kind of the opposite of Iowa 2020 - kenpom #1 defense paired with the 117 offense. I could definitely see the defense stay top 5 without and have a decent offensive jump to ~75 without Duren which is generally a top 30 team. With Duren, they would easily be the favorites for #1 defense and a top 30 offense, aka a top 10 team.

Probably a factor that you have Larry Brown on the bench now. Still, no fear here.

NIL + $uper bag + Penny gets to help players “move” now, right?

Anyone have info on rule changes for 21-22? I know there’s been talk in the past of widening the ft lanes. I haven’t heard anything about rules changes lately though.
