Looking back it was pretty funny that everyone (including myself) seemed to prefer Quinones over Bones. Lot of people were saying Bones was a better fit at a smaller program like VCU, and certainly that he would have a tough time being an early contributor at Michigan. Man he proved everyone wrong awesome to see that success for him.
Man, Beilein would’ve looked super smart with the late offer on Bones. He would’ve done well at Michigan for Beilein.
He was going to have trouble qualifying academically, IIRC.
Yeah, I believe the schoolwork he missed due to his personal tragedy was the major reason he didn’t end up at Michigan.
Xavier is doing their best to avoid making the tournament. Blew a 19 point lead to Butler. Going to OT
Xavier stinks. I made some money picking against the Big East in the tournament in 2019. May have to run that back.
Xavier thought they had a foul to give and intentionally fouled up by 1 with 3 seconds left and Butler in the bonus. 1 point lead turned into a 1 point loss and a possible bubble burst. Unbelievably dumb
Happy for Val though.
Please tell me this was a player brain fart and not a coaching decision.
I was hoping to find out postgame, but I haven’t heard anything about who made that decision. To make it worse, they fouled an 85% FT shooter
In the moment I didn’t think it was intentional, but I could be wrong. I wasn’t listening to the announcers or anything
And that might keep them out of the tourney. Wow.
Heard JB drop a “gritty not pretty” line about Minnesota’s win in the postgame and then saw this shortly after.
Yeah I don’t think it was intentional. I think he got caught looking over his shoulder and as the ball handler started to blow by him he instinctively stuck his hands out to keep the ball handler in front of him. Then he immediately pulled his hands back when he heard the whistle.
It’d almost be easier to explain for the kid if he thought they had a foul to give and did it on purpose. Otherwise, he blatantly reached and committed an obvious foul to everyone on the planet in a situation where you absolutely do not want to foul. You have to make them beat you by making a shot. You just can’t give an 85% FT shooter 2 freebies to beat you
Looks like Providence’s season will come to an unceremonious ending with a loss to 4 win DePaul in the first round of the Big East tournament
Watching the ISU v Oklahoma game currently, was surprised to see none other than Jalen Coleman-Lands on the court for the cyclones. That dude has been in college for 6 years now!!! And the craziest thing is he could come back next year if he wanted to. Hope he’s working on his PhD at this point.
How many Big East teams are supposed to get in the tournament now? Looks like Lunardi only has 3 with Xavier, Seton Hall and St. John’s on the outside looking in… Woof
Romeo Weems and 4 win DePaul up 9 with 90 seconds to go over Providence. DePaul wins as Ed Cooley goes home after one game.
Remember when Providence fans were taunting Michigan for not being able to land him?
