College Basketball 2023-24 Discussion

8 man rotation

You were money with this one. My boy at UCF got royally snubbed sadly, but at least my Reed Sheppard receipts aged well. You win some and you lose some :man_shrugging:

Can’t wait to see if AJ Storr and Avila are actual Illini legends on the RayJ Dennis Almost Illini team!

I think Illinois is going to have an interesting roster off-season as well. They built their initial team around having Kofi in the middle and then last year struggled a bit with Hawkins/Dainja. This year they’ve been all about offense and putting Hawkins at the five. When they lose some of their best players, what do they look like? Is Dainja in their plans or kicked out the door? How do they feel about Ty Rodgers as a focal point given his offensive limitations? How much do they like their young pieces? Do they decide to bring in a true PG?

Same as this season, most likely. Re-load with impact guys from the portal.

Rodgers and Dainja are role players.

Illini legends Yuri Collins and Tyger Campbell. Both of whom didn’t commit elsewhere, but were done with college hoops!

Yeah it was a nasty injury for Hunter. Shoulder just completely out of its socket

Hope he’s good to go for NCAA Tournament though. He’s a big time performer and could be fun to see under the bright lights

A totally unlikable hypocrite can still be correct. I don’t blame any coach for hating the current portal environment.

It seems like by far the easiest fix is to just allow some sort of multi-year contract setup.

I know everyone says “employees, etc” but it feels like there’s a path to having something like that (NLIs are contracts, you sign a contract with a collective, etc.)

Let a kid sign a one-year contract if they want, but also have a way to enforce a multi-year contract.

Do you think more sitting college head coaches in basketball trying to get into the NBA as assistants like there seems to be in college football until they figure out something more sustainable like contracts for the players?

How would they ever start with the enforcement? I suppose it would make the G league viable if they wanted to bail, but if they played college for x number of years it would have to be for the school they signed with?
