College Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

I can see why Clingan decided on UConn he’s absolutely beloved by the UConn fans. Even getting a rebound and putback he gets loud roaring ovations.

As a UConn alum, I’m pumped
I get to root for him. Kid is huge and incredibly talented.

Talking about other leagues in the other thread… Here’s the question of the day: Which pair of coaches would you rather bet on in the NCAA Tournament?

Tommy Lloyd and Mick Cronin
Rick Barnes and Nate Oats

Rick Barnes is an auto-disqualifier for me

I haven’t watched them at all. I’m going solely by their shockingly good results so far. They had one really good player on last year’s team, point guard Nijel Pack, who transferred to Miami for NIL in the offseason. I don’t think one first-team all-league player can carry a team alone, especially in this year’s Big 12, so I assume Tang is doing something right.

Lloyd and Cronin.

Lloyd has had only one underwhelming Tournament to date, so we can give him the benefit of the doubt, whereas the other three are perennial March underachievers.

Markquis Nowell transformed into the best PG in the world, Keyontae Johnson has been awesome,

Was it underwhelming for Lloyd? They lost to Houston, which was a ferocious team. I agree overall tho, he gets the benefit of the doubt.

Do you think that transformation has to do with anything Tang is doing? I don’t know.

Seems like he’s a great coach so of course it has an impact. The worry would be that the defense looks vulnerable and their two big wins they ran ridiculously hot from three (24-of -49).

Probably some regression coming at some point in such a loaded league.

They would have lost to TCU but for a bad call, though you’re right about Houston.

Can I take Cronin and Oats? :slightly_smiling_face:

I really like Cronin and Oats. I think Lloyd is good. I’m not a Barnes guy, so I’m pro Lloyd and Cronin.

Eastern currently down over 40 to Akron with 5 minutes left

I had no idea he was playing again nor have I followed even a k state box score. Extremely surprised.

Going to the Oakland - Youngstown State game and former possible tampering target Dwayne Cohill is at 125 ORating on 25% Usage

We might need to have a discussion why college basketball games are taking 2hrs and 20 minutes now.

What’s going on with the TCU court? Did they see Oregon’s and wonder how they could get in on that?

Happy to see Johnson is alive let alone playing and playing well. Looks like hes gained 40 pounds though. Couldn’t find him at first.

Watching these big 12 teams they certainly look better than the big ten, but these teams look so old comparatively. Bunch of seniors or 5th year guys.

A group of 22-24 year olds looks drastically different than groups of 18-20 year olds. Literally night and day.

Loyola Chicago’s move to the A10 is not working out very well. Just got blasted by St. Joe’s (s/o @bfquinn06) and now 0-5 in league play and 6-11 overall.
