College Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

Texas looking dangerous. Lot of talent on that team.

A game both circled on their calendar for perceived sleights

What was the Emoni sleight? Felt like that was more about him playing at home on a big stage than something against Michigan.

Yes that and he probably felt like Michigan passed on him

Not a felt like, lol. The whole story of the offseason was about how Elgin was trying to gaslight Michigan into taking Emoni through media leaks.

This is a completely plausible scenario. I feel like Juwan vs. Hurley is a mismatch.

Gonzaga looks a lot like… Michigan

This is such a cherrypick because Michigan beat them by 18 once and Baylor punked them in the 2021 title game, but:

Gonzaga lost by 19 last night. The last time they lost by 19 or more was in the 2014 NCAA tournament.

Yeah, I’m confused by Gonzaga. Struggled on an aircraft carrier against a team that was perceived as an inferior opponent. Then said perceived opponent beats a perceived top-five team in the country (who looked…athletic and something). Then Gonzaga went out and got run out of the gym against a team that is supposedly pretty good but looked like a FF team in their own gym against the Zags.

  • Maybe MSU’s great OOC schedule isn’t the murder’s row that it seemed two weeks ago?
  • Maybe Texas is really good?
  • Maybe Gonzaga is okay but not vintage Gonzaga? (Let’s see how they look against Kansas.)
  • Speaking of vintage, maybe Silverblue’s on to something with this Wagner red wine thing?

But then again, it’s college basketball - It’ll sort itself out. Beat ASU.

Texas is really good. Gonzaga is not as good as they’ve been the last couple of years (and they usually lose a game like this anyways… Michigan, Alabama, etc.). It’s really hard to play a true road game against a good team in the second week of the year.

Also Michigan State’s non-conf schedule is definitely still ridiculously hard even with Gonzaga losing to Texas.

This just makes too much sense for a message board, Dylan, but that’s why you literally OWN the place! Every one of these statements is measured, sensible, and complete true! :blue_heart:

Colorado is on quite the wild ride this season.

  • Get blown out at Grambling State
  • Turn around and run Tennessee off the court in a virtual road game
  • Lose to UMass (who is now coached by Frank Martin?!)

Hahaha, you beat me to the edit, Dylan. Accidentally forgot a very important word! :face_with_hand_over_mouth: :joy:

I still like Gonzaga’s team a lot. Need Malachi Smith to get into a rhythm though. Come tournament time they are going to be formidable IMO. If Hickman’s shooting is for real and Smith can give them 10-12 a night on 40% from three would give them a lot of space for Timme.

First time in a couple years they don’t have lottery talent but I think it’s still a fun team to keep an eye on.

Two Pitt games in 24 hours is probably too much for even Pitt fans nowadays, but here I am.

If Crispin keeps interrupting the main play by play guy, I think they might fight at center court later on in the evening.

Getting a little more passive aggressive game by game with these two.

Now Crispin has called the two bench warming tall white spanish brothers on Pitt two Chet Holmgren types so maybe last night’s win was more impressive than we thought.

You can just show up and play basketball in sunglasses?

At least the Michigan fans trickling into the arena can join my pain here.

21-20 VCU with 2 minutes left in the half, they held the lead throughout a 7 minute scoring draught.

Sicko mode intensifying.
