Especially in a 1-year situation. Of all the many things he’s good at, development is probably the top of the list. I’m sure these hired mercenaries are going to love doing one handled dribbling and two handed passing drills for the first two weeks of practice.

Beilein is not going to Morgantown. WVU fan wishful thinking. It doesn’t even make sense for them. They can’t recruit with a one year coach.
Your right in that this is what makes sense for why on Earth would he even consider this.
But if this is the avenue to get Patrick back into things then I can see where it makes sense on his end. I can’t imagine he would take this without some form of guarantee that Patrick takes over. Then that should create some continuity with recruiting.
Or they just keep throwing bags at everyone and forget the whole recruiting thing.
Don’t think he needs a guarantee Patrick would take over. Just getting him back into the assistant world at the HM level is a huge gift to him. But yeah I don’t see how it would work recruiting wise unless the portal is there Plan A and B and C
Probably fan fic, but I saw a WVU person say the best case was Beilein comes on and Mccollum comes on as coach in waiting.

The mid major guys they’ve mentioned all seem like pretty decent hires to me. Granted B12 ball is a big leap but if coaching basketball is the job and NIL is handled elsewise, seems like it could work. Tough spot for WVU tho for sure.
