Does Tre Mitchell have that impact?

getting Reeves back, after every Kentucky source reported a total disaster exit interview, after public confirmation that he withdrew from school, is a massive deal IMO. Mitchell helps further. He’s not the full impact by himself no

A lot of these teams just somehow get the job done and won’t enter a season without doing that.

Balas and another poster with some ties to beilein is saying there is legit smoke to wvu and beilein interim type reunion.

The Beilein/WVU thing definitely makes sense if they will hire him and let him hire Patrick IMO.

I think it makes sense if he’s still bitter about WVU suing him after he left for Michigan and he purposely tanks their program after taking a big payday.

It will certainly sting a bit if he left Michigan because he didn’t like where CBB was going, and then goes to a portal team that has openly been tossing bags. Getting Patrick back to that level makes sense, though.

I think Beilein left mostly just cause he wanted to try to go to the NBA. where is the idea he left because he was tired of where cbb was going? Just cause he expressed frustration over Iggy and JB? That’s a different thing to me than “the direction of cbb” as a whole.

It’s that he thought he probably had a team that was gonna contend for titles and then suddenly didn’t and that made leaving a lot easier

Yeah - think he wanted a shot at the NBA and he was getting older, had a connection to the team (Altman/Gansey)…it was probably the one time the stars were going to align. I think if that hadn’t been the case, he’d have finished his career in Michigan.

Yeah, he clearly took the Cavs job because he thought he could be an NBA coach. He had succeeded at every level of coaching, taken an upgraded opportunity each step and thought he would succeed in the NBA.

I will be utterly inconsolable if John Beilein makes it further in the NCAA Tournament at West Virginia than Michigan with whoever is coaching them

well you have like 9 months to prepare yourself

They sued him for the buyout money owed.

Bill martin could have, you know handled it, but let both hires, him and RR get sued and in RR’s case get a load of bad press.

11 seed play in winner Michigan vs. 6 seed West Virginia :+1:t3:

Yup, Bill Martin could’ve handled it. It was another series of bad moves by Bill Martin.

I will leave the internet entirely to avoid Michigan fan takes if this game happens

I will board a submarine to the bottom of the ocean

Beilein managing a bunch of kids that wvu that were essentially bought would be interesting. Beilien is great at many things, managing huge egos with luggage and handlers is not one of them.

This is the type of thing that the NCAA does and when the masses say that the NCAA is grandstanding for better ratings, the NCAA says, “Well, harumph, that’s just a coincidence and the product of our double-secret seeding system harumph”. (Although, this WOULD be must-see Friday night viewing, right?)

“In an unprecedented turn of events, John Beilein has recused himself from coaching in Friday night’s West Virginia - Michigan NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament game siting a conflict of interest . . .”
