Unless the calculus has changed, the conferences are only adding teams that make them more $$ per school and in the B1G that’s vanishingly few teams. E.g. plenty of PAC teams would have wanted to follow USC and UCLA but the B1G wasn’t into it. Notre Dame is a very obvious one, but not clear there are others.
I am of the opinion to tell ND to pound sand for all of eternity. Invite NorthSouthEast School For The One-Legged Who Also Only Have One Arm before inviting ND to the Big Ten.
Duke not being in there is interesting.
Duke is a tiny private school with absolutely 0 football backing. Probably destined to join the Big East
State politics, I would guess.
Would have to be hard for UNC to leave Duke for rivalry purposes right?
Or is NCSt a bigger rival to them?
I think it’s pretty clear at this point in realignment that rivalries mean nothing
there has to be a limit of the size of a conference. I cannot see how a conference with 20 member school works.
I called my people and there is room for Duke to be set adrift on the same ice shelf as Wisconsin.
we should’ve taken advantage of that NC game while we had the chance
At this point, my dream is a twenty team BIG10 w promotion/relegation between, say, Premier and Championship level competitions of ten teams each. TV payout is the same 1-20.
It would actually be a lot of fun and totally interesting…which is why it will never happen. There’s no creativity in that level of leadership and the TV networks are paying big bucks already so nothing will force them to be creative. Expansion itself makes very little sense but for some reason the networks are paying and the conference is signing people up.
The more likely scenario is that we get twenty teams…and one group of ten is the original B10 and they never play the other half until the tournament. As if they are two ten team conferences. Wow…amazing.

It sounds fun until you consider that a team couldn’t have a huge turnaround like Michigan football in 2021. After the 2020 season we probably would have been relegated and then all we could have done in ‘21 was win the second division.
smoke of UConn to the Big 12 per Ross Dellenger
Yep … this seems likely and what a silly outcome.
Human history is the process of wrecking things and being sad about it later.
I like the long road aspect of it. On a related point, I will choose to believe forever that 2020 didn’t happen in a way that is far more deep and permanent than the alleged voiding of the Fab 5 banners.
they will have 4 7 footers on their team
