This sort of shows where the portal thing is going IMO. Guy is a projected lottery pick, has a bad year, now is going to be a hot name in the portal.
Gotta imagine SEC schools like Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss will be all over this one.

Iâm not sure Michigan is irrationally snake-bit. But I donât think you can just point out Franz and say âsee, it is all even!â When Beilein left and Juwan arrived there was a legit concern about how Juwan was going to maintain, let alone improve the program at that juncture. Beilein had been known for player development, sophisticated offense, and had recently addressed his defensive weakness. The one area it was believed Juwan could have the most impact in comparison was recruiting. And you could argue he has, in fact, done that with guys like Hunter, Caleb, Moussa, Frankie, Kobe, Jett, Reed. Thatâs 7 top-65 recruits in three seasons while Beilein had fewer than that in his entire career. The problem is that recruiting changed with NIL and the portal and those guys arenât as valuable.
Franz gave Michigan one decent year and one great year. Caleb, Moussa, Jett, and perhaps Kobe will have given Michigan each a decent yearâŚmaybe you could argue Kobeâs was better than that. None of them gave you two years as an impact player - none. We got two years from Franz, Burke, Stauskas, GR3, McGary (not counting injury), Poole, etc. Michigan had two OAD players in its history before weâve had three in the last two seasons.
Iâm not saying weâre âsnakebitâ - but Iâm trying to explain the frustration of the fans that we donât get the benefit of our recruiting success or the players getting NBA paychecks.
Weird times at UVA
Basically got benched this year so not completely surprising IMO.
Who are the two prior to the last two seasons youâre referring to? Iggy and who? Jamal Crawford?
YepâŚthatâs it. I donât have records past the early 1990s, but it was really rare back then if almost non-existent.
Yeah- and I kinda doubt Crawford would have been one and done if not for his ridiculous suspension although he did end up being drafted very highly. Iggy was also like 20 years old with the physical appearance and game of a 37 year old.
On the point you were making, yeah, itâs incredibly frustrating. I am SO excited that weâre looking at 4 years of Dug- we had basically a full decade of elite PG play (Morris-Burke-Walton-Simpson) and the continuity of having the same guy in that spot will be fun to watch. I donât think any rational fans begrudge Jett or Kobe (if he goes) but itâs just a bummer. Iâm rooting for Houstan and Diabate and Jett to do well in the NBA but it doesnât feel the same as following THJ or Carisâ NBA career. It really changes the ârelationshipâ between college fans and their team.
We did almost lose Trey after his freshman year (the famous photo of his things all bagged up) but he reconsidered.
Imagine if Trey Bruke had left. Some serious ripple effects there for the program. I canât help but think the Bufkin decision would be similar in that way
Thatâs some serious sicko-level stuff right there. Stop watching the world burn, KT!
Not a ton of Big Ten regulars in here:
more like Paul Smells amirite
For the Trey Burke talk
remember the string of bacari alexander pregame speeches they would show on ESPN? like placing pringles on every playerâs shoulder and telling them to play with a chip on their shoulder? some of the finest fake/made-for-tv speeches in the genre
âmy ticket says weâre not playing Ohio⌠weâre playing the nutcrackerâ
If my coach had ever said that to me and my team weâd start bursting out laughing and proceed to lose by 30
To be fair, I think they were meant to make the players laugh because they were so corny.
that was just the nebraska one, where he personally shucked 30 ears of corn, focusing on the wispy silk left behind, while speaking on the importance of attention to detail
Justifies every single refereeing complaint past, present and future
agreed. including the ones where we get screwed in the tournament
