Biggest carpetbagger Larry Brown vs Rick Pitino

Keep in mind Brown is 12 years older than Pitino so there’s time for Pitino to take a job after St Johns.

Wait a second … Indiana lost to Miami in both Tournaments? Wow. Kind of funny. I thought the loss of a (4 seed?) was getting an awful lot of press, but I guess it’s two separate games, including a 1 seed, which is noteworthy.

I laughed at the story, but I’d also love to hear how the interview went. If you catch my drift.

Win some more games if you want to be invited to postseason tournaments.

Antoine seeing if he can put together an NCAA sanctioned open gym run tomorrow

I can’t get over positioning “having two more seasons than Maravich (in an offense designed to let him do everything he wants) to pass him and still falling short” as “being cheated”.

Badly overplaying his hand.

I understand Davis feeling how he is just cause he is still young and the idea of people being genuinely upset about you breaking a record would be a very weird position to be in. I for one am glad they didn’t get an invite, but calling the CBI is about 10 steps too far for me. I also don’t buy Mr. Davis story about the Ps8 or whatever having teams drop out because Detroit was gonna be in it. And I think they should probably realize why people feel like they were essentially just buying a record by finding any possible tournament to take them in.

However, I think it’s best all parties move on and accept what happened.

Yeah when you’ve devoted 5 years of your life (both Antoine and Mike) in pursuit of a sole objective at the expense of all else (like winning?) I understand being upset. It’s not the choice I would have made but their motivation isn’t hard to figure.

What I’ve always found more difficult to understand is UDM’s willingness to commit to a personnel arrangement and play style that clearly wasn’t working in terms of team success for the past two years in pursuit of a sports story that seemed closer in genre, at the end, to Tropic Thunder than Hoosiers.

The Bacari Alexander tenure was so bad that this is a massive improvement lol

It really is crazy how much of a mess UDM is considering they’re the only D1 school in one of the largest cities in the US. If Wayne State ever moves up to D1, they might as well just fold the program, tbh.

Yeah, but at least when they hired him, you felt like the intention was to attempt to win basketball games - a young charismatic coach from a successful local bigtime program (leaving aside the on-court product and his off-court conduct). I get that Davis had finally found some success in the SWAC, but it seems pretty clear that after year 3 the basic arrangement wasn’t working. Like - I assume he’s not coaching there next year, right? I’m not sure he was ever a “good hire” in a basketball sense, but schools make bad hires all the time. It just seems like UDM decided to shrug and devote 2 seasons to Antoine’s pursuit of this record.
