If it wasn't the package to Cal, and he goes to Purdue, wonder what could have happened so quickly for him to change his mind.
Perhaps Joya McDowell could provide some insight…

It is sad that Roosevelt Barnes or any handler have such influence on a kid. Let the kid go where he wants.

Based on McDowell’s train of thought, perhaps Barnes has some valid logic as to why MSU isn’t a great choice. I can’t speak factually about that…but McDowell’s words have certainly raised some questions
Worst part of this is that Purdue doesn’t have to play at Michigan State this year!
Never mind…I need to learn how to read…
Well, so much for Izzo being on fire. They’ve still got Ward coming in after next season and he’ll be a solid tandem with Davis IMO. But Davis and Swanigan would have been a lethal inside combo. Now MSU is much more guardable on offense and easier to break down on defense.
Smart move by Swanigan – he must have realized that Izzo was going to clip his wings and force him to come off the bench behind Costello. Purdue will be a handful down low, with Swanigan probably playing the four, but at least Hammons will be probably as soft as usual. If only Michigan could get Swanigan, they’d be the complete team at 1 through 5.
