Assorted Notes

You guys have to stop talking about Jalen Coleman. There has to be something else to discuss.

Yeah, Lets talk Demetrius Jackson, he was more athletic than Derrick Walton.

Yeah, Lets talk Demetrius Jackson, he was more athletic than Derrick Walton.

The gap between the 2 is in no way similar to Duncan Robinson and Jalen Coleman. This is in addition to Coleman being more skilled.

You question the staff on almost every move they make, yet they are successful. Which makes you… This is not our football program.

And I certainly respect everyone’s opinion who posts, I just disagree with 90% of what Matt tends to post. I find it arbitrary.

It’s obvious Dozier is a much different and more versitile prospect then Coleman. It’s also very well known that Dozier wants to play PG/combo (and is physically and skillfully able to). To have to state that as part of an argument is re: why we are still pursuing a certain prospect is silly.

And that is exactly why this is a positional argument. Dozier can play 3 positions, we are not recruiting him to be an exclusive 2 (that’s why we’re still pursuing him), Coleman can play ONE position. We gained a prospect that plays Coleman’s position (and the 3). If we added a Tyler Williams instead of Robinson, we would be in the same situation.

So it SHOULD hold weight with you if you truly comprehend this particular situation.

Like when?

I find it funny you are trying to educate me on Dozier when me and @geoffclarke have been the only posters consistently mentioning him the past year

Coleman can play the 1 an the 2 btw so not sure I agree that he “can play ONE position”

I will believe Duncan Robinson has the footspeed to guard 2s when I see it.

Stauskas didn’t have the foot speed to guard twos… I would say he was a pretty damn good player

Every player has limitations in their game, but if you can excel in one or two particular areas you can be an outstanding piece in Beilein’s system

Still don’t know why everyone who complains about not getting Coleman just assumes he would have come here if they continued to recruit him

I’d rather have Robinson and maybe Dozier over maybe Coleman and maybe Dozier and maybe no one

Stauskas could also handle and pass and is a much more dynamic shooter than Robinson

There are tons of Duncan Robinsons in the Spring

I’ve said Robinson has utility as a big shooter and maybe a John Shurna type at best so not saying he is useless.

Hasn’t the criticism of taking so many recruits late in the spring been that Michigan needs to be more aggressive in the fall?

If that is the approach then cool but even Robinson/Coleman could work as a class imo

If Dozier commits elsewhere, it will be interesting to see if what they do with the scholarship

Irvin and/or Walton declares after this year then hindsight comes into play

You have to assume that we would actually get Coleman for hindsight to come into play. You have to assume that Chatman can’t play 2 or 3. You have to assume that Dawkins won’t be a factor.

It’s possible that Walton leaves after this season, but it is very unlikely. If he did, a freshman Coleman might not beat out Spike at starting PG. He’s a 2 all the way. It would be like TA being forced to play Dion Harris at PG. It doesn’t work. You also have to assume that a soph MAAR and senior Spike can’t handle PG.

I think our chances with Dozier are better than they would have been with Coleman at this point. And why do you think that the staff chose to drop Coleman and pursue only Dozier?

I will assume that if UM loses 2 of Walton/Irvin/LeVert, UM will have a backup starting somewhere or lack enough playmaking in the starting lineup

Even with just LeVert declaring, no Dozier would mean very few playmakers on offense

Coleman is a Juan Dixon type. He will be able to play the 1 just fine. High IQ and skill.

Not sure Coleman chooses Illinois over Michigan…I can see UNC, SC, UL all getting Dozier, though a commitment to UM would quell everything.

Simeon's Ed Morrow, top uncommitted 2015 left in Illinois, commits to Nebraska. Tim Miles & staff getting it done in Illinois

You know the B1G is going to be strong when Penn St, Nebraska and NW are recruiting well…

What ever happened to Illinois? They used to recruit instate pretty well, but they are getting no love lately.

Big thanks to Bacari Alexander (@bacari34) and the U of M for coming through today a Loyola's open gym. #wegotsomegreatyoungmen

FHC coach Ken George and Xavier Tillman @Rookiedunker welcome the legend MSU coach Tom Izzo during open gym tonight pic.twitter.com/UgA51OgA7t

Izzo is showing a lot of early love for Tillman, and his Mom isn’t shy about publishing it. He has shown a willingness to track Xavier all summer and early fall, and the Tillmans have reciprocated by being on MSU campus multiple times. So far away, but Izzo’s got stones trying to weasel in on a “legacy” M prodigy. Hope it’s all in vain. At least JB is actively showing high interest in Bowen and Johns as well! Some great battles ahead, not to mention Bridges.

“The legend MSU coach Tom Izzo?”

Wasn’t talking to you Guestavo. And you haven’t been the only posters mentioning Dozier lol.
