2025-26 NBA Discussion

Ugh. Up 14 with 9 minutes to play then the Clippers actually started playing hard and defending (honestly shocking to see) and Detroit had no answers.

Wondering where others stand re: Jaden Ivey. I just don’t see anything there. Mediocre jump shooter at best, can’t jump, and has all kinds of trouble keeping anyone in front of him on the other end.

He’s not good

Despite the loss, Boston also lost so the lead remains 4 games

It’s still tough to judge him this year after coming off a broken leg 10 months ago and then surgery in October.

He’s still on a minutes restriction and he hasn’t found that gear that made him one of the fastest players in the league prior to his injuries. Last year, he was shooting 40% from 3 and delivered two game-winning shots in the final 5 seconds. So it seemed like he was heading towards bigger things. Now, I don’t know.

Yeah, it was a bummer to have the lead for 95% of the game but let it slip away in the final 2-3 minutes.

It was still a pretty good performance considering they were without Cade, Duren, Stew, and Tobias and the Clippers had all their starters. I think Bogdanovic and Jones Jr. were the only rotation players that the Clippers were missing.

The Pistons don’t play again until Thursday, so hopefully most of those guys will be back by then. Stew isn’t injured, he’s just sick.

Duren was walking fine and was very active on the bench (ankle is probably good to go) and Cade didn’t have a wrap on his wrist last night. I think those guys are fine now and I believe Saturday was a way to get both of them more than a full week off given that they’re now off until Thursday. I’m thinking last night was the old Bobby Cox ā€œyou’re good to go? OK then you’ll play tomorrowā€ game.

Could be. I certainly hope Duren’s coming around. I believe he’s had an ankle injury at least once every season but last year.

It looks like it’s the season for Michigan hoopers to appear on the cover of SLAM.

I het he’s upset, but I don’t think acting this way helps his cause.

I guess I can’t make 3 posts in a row on a thread, even after a day or two passes.

So:

The Los Angeles Lakers are signing guard Kobe Bufkin to a 10-day contract, sources tell ESPN. Bufkin has starred for the Lakers’ South Bay NBA G League affiliate and spent some time with the Grizzlies this season. After a 5 day break, Pistons play basketball again hosting Phoenix tonight. Cade isn’t on the injury report & Beef Stew, Tobias, & Duren are listed as probable as of yesterday

Good because I am going to the game tonight and would be very disappointed if they were all sitting again.

Problems with this view (if your best players, or lots of your good players, who miss time are on rookie contracts you’ll look like you get off easily, if you have bad, hurt, expensive players, it looks like you’re less lucky than you may be) but I think it’s interesting. Basically, it’s payroll lost to injury this year:

Indiana is 1st (Haliburton a huge part, but they’ve missed 227 player-games this year, which is insane).

Boston is remarkably healthy outside Tatum, but his salary is so big it gets them high up.

Detroit 5th least injured in salary lost, 8th least injured in games.

Unsurprising news Sources: Jonathan Kuminga demanding trade away from Warriors - ESPN

They took Kuminga over Franz. I have no evidence but I’m going to blame Draymond for that decision.

Spoelstra has been odd this year. His lineup choices and decisions are weird at times. He goes through this periods of not playing Ware for instance and I can’t figure out what he’s doing. Feels like whenever they give him burn he plays well and they win

They have too much talent to be 500 even with the injuries.

Pistons sweat out the W vs. Phoenix. Going 4 /12 on free throws over the last 2+ minutes caused Piston fans some undue stress but a win’s a win.

To be fair, I would have drafted Kuminga too, the guy was an interesting prospect.

I still think he’ll be a good player with a different team

Obviously Franz would be really nice though next to Curry and Green
