2025-26 NBA Discussion

I’ll guess $10K. But if there’s some accountability for Gobel, it’ll have been money well spent.

No foul called on this play as Duren attempted to get a last second bucket to tie the game.:face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

It feels like Goble has an agenda against the Pistons tonight especially after the Ausar ejection.

No blood, no foul. AD was tackling him and causing mere soft tissue injuries

I know refs are reluctant to call a foul on a scramble play under the hoop in the waning seconds, but I watched the highlights and Duren couldn’t even get a shot up with how much contact there was. Probably one you should have called.

But Pistons dug a hole, no doubt aided by the refs, and Stew missed a go ahead FT that might have won in regulation.

I am glad JB spoke up despite the obvious fine.

It looks like that could’ve been a flagrant 1.

I watched 2 1/2 quarters but then went away because the Pistons were down in the teens and they have seemed to do better when I watch the game on delay. Not that I’m superstitious or anything.

So, I went away but then got wrapped up in the Rams/Seahawks game. I decided to check the score and saw that they came back but lost in OT. I didn’t watch the rest of the recording but I might do it now while I photo-edit. There’s nothing quite like being sports-angry in the middle of the day.

When you stopped watching the Pistons played a quite a while with all mostly backups. Jenkins, Green, Levert, Holland and Reed. They got after it on the defensive end. Very aggressive and physical. Refs really let most of it go, and then by the time the game got to OT they couldn’t change the way they called the game and maybe even let more go. That play in the screen shot is probably the most egregious, but the pistons certainly benefited from it too.

The pistons lost because they had a handful of possession in OT that they didn’t really get any good looks and probably settled for bed threes. To be fair a couple of threes were almost halfway down before popping out. If one of them goes through Detroit probably wins.

…AND as JB was calling timeout.

Apparently Davis had a foot out of bounds during this, as well:

Wow that is really bad officiating. LOL

I think other than that last play obviously, the officials forgetting how to blow a whistle probably helped Detroit more. When they started the comeback in the fourth quarter, their physicality really was a big part of it. Much of which could have been whistled for fouls. They really played Flagg hard and he got beat up a bit.

The Pistons are a really tough and rugged team. They are going to be a tough out in the playoffs. If they match up with the Knicks again in the playoffs, that’s going to be a great series.

I was super impressed with Flagg last night. He’s relentless attacking the basket and can finish with either hand. He made some nice mid range buckets in the clutch. He’s very athletic and is already a good defender. The one thing he can’t do right now is shoot 3’s but I assume that will happen over time since he’s a good free throw shooter.

Flagg and Kneuppel are clearly the best two rookies this year. That Duke team last year was pretty awesome. Just shows you need a little Luck to win a title as they were a bounce away probably.

JB was also trying to call timeout but nobody saw it.

Monday begins Detroit’s first west trip of the year (Yay 10 pm tipoffs). It’s a laugher of a schedule (Portland, Sacramento, Utah, Clips, & Lakers) so if they can beat the Lakers 5-0 is possible

Even though that might mean less Johnny Kane doing PBP (really like him as a sidelines guy!) when George Blaha can’t, I don’t think this is an overall positive.

3 fouls for Thompson in 3:30 minutes

Does Blaha not doing west coast games? Getting ready for the MSU bowl game?

I think it’s partially the West Coast trip and I think last year he took the holidays off so that’s just the thing now. We know he’s not preparing to call an MSU Bowl game.

Meanwhile, Ausar was phenomenal when he came back in (finished with 18/12/3 and 3 steals, including a steal and a dunk and a tip dunk down the stretch) and Cade decided to one-up him in the fouls department. He had zero in the first half and picked up 5 in the first 9 or so minutes of the third quarter. The Pistons had a 21-point lead at the time and maybe he got too casual. Portland wound up making a big run and Cade came back early in the 4th and fouled out after maybe a minute and drew a tech arguing.

Portland even got their first lead of the game with just over 4 minutes remaining but the Pistons did just enough to take back over and win by 8.

They play the Kings tomorrow night so maybe Cade getting some unexpected rest will benefit them.

Also, Ron Holland was out tonight but I don’t think it’s anything serious.
