The first playoff win against the Cavs since 2007!

It was really something to see Allen go from having a HUGE Game 7 against Toronto to 2 points and 3 rebounds tonight.

Duncan 19 points and 5 3’s and even talked smack to Harden. He was really good tonight on offense and wasn’t a complete turnstile on D.

Weird game. Looks like a 6 man rotation in the box score. Surprised the Detroit backup bigs were so ineffective - Stew quiet and B-Ball Paul gets the DNP? Maybe an artifact of Jarrett’s foul trouble.

Anyway, fortunate to hang on. CLE has a LOT of ability to put the ball in the hoop.

The “it” here is “reverse jinx”. Duncan went off right after my comment.

His defense remained very bad.

I don’t know if he’s playing hurt or not but since his 8-block performance, Beef Stew has been mostly ineffective. He also experienced a drop-off midway through the year and missed some non-suspension games in the 2nd half. His last game with 10 or more rebounds was December 20th.

He fouled quite a bit but neither Harden or Mitchell got too many buckets off of him. Struss was another story.

Do the Lakers find a way to get a win this series?

No, I think that will be a sweep.

Lakers might be able to steal a game but even if they get Luka back, I’d be shocked if that goes more than 5 games

Ausar, leaving his brother amazed:

How many times have they met in the playoffs since then?

Btw, I’ve been reading The Franchise, the book about the 1989 Pistons, and forgot completely how much Cleveland was viewed as a threat that year. The Cavs had built a young, talented roster (Brad Daugherty, Mark Price, Ron Harper, Larry Nance) and were neck-and-neck with the Pistons in the standings most of the season. But some guy named Jordan spoiled things for them in the playoffs.

it was weird that the Cavs basically forgot they had Jarrett Allen in the second half completely

The 2 bigs seemed to go well for them and struck me as one of their big advantages

Cleveland swept Detroit in 2016 and 2009, plus they won the last 4 games of the 2007 EC Finals, to make 12 straight playoff wins.

He took 10 3s and a bunch of floaters. This kind of softness is the difference between Detroit and Cleveland.

My heart breaks for you, Donovan.

I’m somewhat surprised with the way Game 1 has gone for the Pistons for the most part. It felt like a regular-season Pistons was back. It’s mainly because the Cavs perimeter defense isn’t as good as the Magic. They need Harden and Spida on the floor, but they’re not a good defender so they had to play Wade/Strus on Cade which isn’t a great solution.

Also, it’s nice to see Cade/Duren shutting the door on the Cavs at the end of the game. Duren played well IMO.

It’s only 1 game but I like what I saw, just gotta keep doing it, which ya know, easier said than done in a 7 game series
