Is this really the best 3x3 team we can send? I’ve only watched highlights and this game vs. Poland, but seems to me we could take 4 random NBA guys and destroy this field, no?

Chet Holmgren would be great in 3x3. A mobile shot eraser that can shoot. Not sure who the best other two would be.

Been touched on several times in this thread but you have to play 3x3 regularly to qualify. You can’t just bring in random guys for the Olympics.

The rules are pretty quirky so honestly I don’t think a random group of nba guys would be a guarantee to win

Yeah I’ve noticed the rules are quirky…as are the interpretations…the late travel call against Jimmer was a head-scratcher.
I would think the guys playing Big 3 would want to take a chance to play in the Olympics and play in whatever they had to to qualify, no? Someone like Jeff Teague would destroy this field.

I would imagine that the guys in the Big 3 are in search of easy paychecks and wouldn’t be super into traveling around the world for 3x3 qualifiers for little to no money.

After a little google searching appears that Ice Cube has been trying to get Big3 involved but FIBA hasn’t been very receptive.

Big 3 players have to check up after every score and they have a 4 point line. Watching Joe Johnson try to play fiba 3x3 would be very funny

IIRC, the Men’s 3x3 team finished runner up last year in the world cup and they are ranked #1 in the FIBA rankings so yes, this is the best team we can send. And no, we can’t use the NBA guys because they don’t fit the qualifying criteria for the 3x3.

yeah I just don’t think you can really have 2 guards. Seems like the teams tend to be bigger. Otherwise I’d agree
