I get it, you’re a Banchero stan. This is my list and my opinion. If you’re going to fight/argue on every single thing that people put out with their list then don’t bother posting and ask for a debate.
I’m not a Banchero stan, until recently I tried to convince myself Cade was still better going forward. The whole point of a debate is to see other lists and debate them lol.
(1) lol Wemby is illegal
(2) age is a huge deal here and says a lot about what kind of runway you have left to get better
(3) Luka was supposed to go nuclear and instead just kinda let a bunch of guys catch up to him
I’d be curious about Banchero on this chart
I know shai os only 25 but he’s also sort of a late bloomer in terms of how this stuff goes
Didn’t he have some injuries? Plus I’m sure the context want always great in his first few years.
Context definitely not great
Injuries, technically yes
Reality? Ehhhhh
Surprising absolutely no one I spend an obscene amount of time just plugging dudes into that thing and one thing that really does jump out is just how variable aging curves are player to player. Some of it is that defense pops first and offense develops much more slowly. But a lot of it is just pure player to player variability.
A good reason to e.g. not write off Cade. Tho it is pretty clear that the very top outcomes will not come to pass. And that a number of his age peers have passed him by a lot, which certainly matters.
Wemby was on a minutes restriction which is the crazy part about it. I think he should’ve won DPOY but Rudy deserves it to win it so it’s hard to argue against it.
Wemby next season is gonna be so much fun to watch. The Spurs really need a PG who can feed him the ball
You mean besides Sochan?
I thiiiiink the mode outcome rn is that in 4-5 years we’re like “ugh Wemby winning is so boring, we need somebody to knock him off his pedestal” bc he’s going to be just that good. When he’s healthy I think he’s gonna be able to drag otherwise average teams to 60 wins.
(Which is why it was nuts that the Bulls didn’t tank for the guy but why would they do that when they could keep being the 2nd worst franchise in the league.)
But so ofc this is Wemby’s young supporting cast rn
So he may not actually get anything approaching that otherwise average team. Severe aughts Cavs vibes. Also sure looks like the Spurs have been coasting on their rep as big time talent developers for a while. This isn’t a pretty picture.
It sure seemed like a lot of those pre-Chet years, OKC just shut SGA down to help the tank.
Absoutely did. They were cromulent when he played, couldn’t have that!
Cromulent. I concur
It underscore the need for a PG. I do think trading for one should help speed up the rebuild and maximize Wemby. I know some think it’ll be Murray, but I dunno because the Hawks tried to trade him away yet no one wanted him. Maybe Trae Young might be the play, but we’ll see.
Wemby is the ultimate teammate for Trae Young because he can help erase so many of Trae’s defensive shortcomings.
yes but I don’t think Atlanta has the assets to trade for Wemby
