2022 NBA Draft Discussion

I don’t think Diabate is a tweener the way TJD is. I’m probably just being biased but Diabate looks a fair bit more promising than TJD

Yeah, hard to tell and different types of players. Diabate is younger and appears more athletic. Easier to project his raw talent to grow than TJD perhaps. But TJD has been a pretty solid defender and rebounder already and has his fair share of ways to score. Would love to see some of their measureables if they are released.

Moussa was listed at 6’11". I usually think of a Tweener as 6’7" or 6’8".

I think Trayce is just an undersized backup 5 type in the NBA these days. Whereas Diabate has actual potential to start due to his wingspan and already being a better defender on switches.

Diabate will have to get a lot stronger to play in the NBA. Because at his current status he would get abuse by most power forwards or centers. Plus he would need to improve in blocking shots which I saw as a kind of weakness this past season.

I think whatever his athletic/shooting limitations, it’s pretty clear that TJD was the better player on both offense and defense his freshman year than Moussa.

Yeah, I think that’s what I was pointing out as a “tweener”. While Diabate is the height of a center and TJD isn’t, they are both going to struggle at the next level defining their role given their talent and their limitations.

TJD has a simpler skillset to put together into a coherent whole. He’s fast off his feet and is a threat to finish around the rim. Diabete could be the better player eventually, but he’s also just as likely to never put it together.

Eli Brooks invited.

No Houstan so presumably he got a regular combine invite? Better have Malachi Smith on speed dial

No Houstan, but nice to see Eli on there!

Or he didn’t get invited to either and he’s coming back

I’m just going to say here, without any any definitive information that he has been invited to the Draft Combine, he’s been invited to the combine. Again, I have heard nothing definitive, but based on where he was ranked in the last NBA Draft prospect rankings and not being on the G-league list of invitees, he almost certainly has been invited to the combine. Again, this is speculation and just my opinion but I’d be SHOCKED if he wasn’t invited to the combine.

List of 18 here so 40ish spots left.

Which of these players at the GLeague Combine are in the transfer portal? Nance, Lofton, McCullar, Keion Brooks… any others? We will call this the McCormick special. These hypothetically should be the magical list of players that Tim thinks Michigan can add as a transfer after the NBA deadline.

Nance sure seems like he should be very high on our list if CH and MD stay in the draft

McCullar is already down to Kansas and another school if he came back and Michigan wasn’t the other school.

Gonzaga is the other school. I think Lofton has narrowed in on a couple schools too. My statement was mostly tongue in cheek because McCormick was acting like it’s good that Frankie left because Michigan will just add someone better after the NBA deadline when guys return to school. My point is that it is doubtful that there will be this nice list of guys who come back to college that are in the portal, that want to go to Michigan and can also get into Michigan.

He’s already heavily rumored to be an Illinois lock
