2021 NCAA Tournament Open Thread

You guys are trying to convince me that USC has a shot tonight and I don’t appreciate that because it’s almost working. But if Gonzaga is going down, it’s gonna be the good guys who take them down I’m afraid.

Although, maybe we can get Dylan to start writing the Michigan-Gonzaga preview in earnest soon a la Texas Southern v. Mt St Mary’s. That’s gotta be worth a couple extra points for the Trojans at least, right?

This worked for Alabama too. :face_with_head_bandage:

As I post this, I’m currently jotting down some notes on the Zags.

Gonzaga will win easily tonight IMO. Gonzaga 112 - 55 USC

I actually think USC will give them trouble but Gonzaga will figure things out in the second half and win safely but not handily.

Good–if, in the main, fluffy–piece here about the Fab Five’s legacy at Michigan as embodied in Coach Howard. Among other things, the writer notes that that team really was a team.

Most interesting for me here are the notes, at the end, about Jim Nantz. I commented on his smooth delivery the other night, then went and poked around, because I thought i remembered a somewhat darker side to some past comments. He was no fan of the Fab Five.

I like the title of this piece a lot, because as we note the racist undertone to comments about Coach Howard here and there, a lot of us are feeling more than a little vindicated–they’re not going to take the shine off of this one! Things have changed.

Early foul on Evan Mobley and two terrible turnovers off the top for USC.

Edit: make that three turnovers

Don’t worry Dylan, your Gonzaga preview looks like it’ll do just fine.

What is usc doing

Gonzaga is so good. USC cannot turn the ball over and expect to win.

He got Eli’d.

So the good news is my 6-10 class got cut early because the professor just got his second COVID shot and is feeling terrible. The bad news is that was the only reason I was able to view the disgustingly late tip-off for our game as a positive.

Mobley just totally clobbered Ayiyi (on accident of course)

Suggs shot fakes a three into a contested 18-foot brick :grimacing:

The rare “and-one” yell that arguably should have been a flagrant 1 against the yeller.
