I just saw that Mick Cronin is the highest paid coach remaining in the tournament. The more surprising thing to me is that Mark Few only gets paid 1.9 mil/yr?? Is Few that selfless that he just doesn’t care what he gets paid??

I don’t know where to find the specifics but I’m sure the WCC athletic departments aren’t exactly rolling in cash. Relative to the power 5 conferences anyway. They don’t even have football which is normally the big money maker. That’s probably all Gonzaga can afford.

Gonzaga being a private school doesn’t have to release the full details of Fews compensation. It’s possible hes making more.

Gonzaga’s athletic department might not have that much money. The West Coast Conference probably doesn’t bring in too much revenue, and they have a small arena (6,000 capacity).

Not to mention no TV deal like the Power Five and their total enrollment as a school is so small that they aren’t rolling in donor money. Frankly, keeping Mark Few long enough to build the program to this pseudo dynasty is Gonzaga’s biggest accomplishment.

I do think that USC presents a very tough matchup for Gonzaga. They haven’t seen a team like that this year and USC should shut down the interior. Timme is not going to have a fun night on either end. That said, not sure that USC will have enough fire power in the end, but I’d love to see it

So much of what Gonzaga does revolves around elite dribble penetration and finishing at the rim. They’re still gonna be damn near unguardable but I’m just convincing myself that all it takes is one night where they aren’t shooting the lights out against that zone, and Mobley is the best player on the floor :eyes:
