2020 Transfer Market

Purdue is my other favorite college team (graduating this week!!) and honestly I’m not too upset at all to see him go. Great defense but his lack of shooting could be a massive hindrance at times. He was definitely getting passed up by others on the roster so it is probably best for both parties that he transfers. Really excited to see Ethan Morton and Jaden Ivey like Dylan said.

Any idea on when Coleman-lands will make a decision?

Hard pass on Eastern.

Just saw this now.

I feel like I’ve won every talent argument with MattD, not because I’m smart, but merely because I bet on our former coach’s ability to evaluate talent and he bet on himself. I’d love to revisit the Mo Wagner thread too, as I recall Matt not loving him all that much and me arguing he would be another Jake Layman (as it turns out, he was even better than Layman).

And I love how he doubled down on his “I was right about DJ Wilson” take and then Wilson came back two years later to prove him wrong.

JB didn’t get them all right, but no one has come close to putting so many three and four star guys (and in the case of Duncan, a Division III guy) into the pros.

Even a guy like MAAR - somewhat of a desperation move in the spring of 2014, after we missed on a ton of guys on the fall - turns out he could play, too.

I believe Moe Wagner was called, “A waste of a scholarship” somewhere.

Even more evidence for my view that painter would be the best college basketball analyst of current coaches

I definitely understand the sentiment of putting in the work/grinding before trying to make the professional jump. Applies to Eastern tremendously.

But maaaaaan this is a bad look. I have no respect for a coach publicly bashing kids on their way out. Those comments are pretty brutal.

On one hand, I like that he’s speaking candidly and you don’t want to punish an insightful/interesting guy like Painter for doing so (especially when there’s certainly some truth to his message). On the other hand, you know it’s going to be used against him negatively in recruiting so I’m not sure why he’s doing it. Very odd move.

The Nojel Eastern('s family) thinking he’s a pro thing has been a problem since high school.

That entire thread is nuts.

I appreciate that networks are doing these player mixes more and more. I’m impressed by the finishes through contact and activity on the offensive glass.

I like Painter. Cuts through the bs and gives it straighter than most coaches. Also, just seems like a good guy.

That’s 100% how he is. Met him in the fall. Talked for like 2 hours. Extremely honest about everything which is rare nowadays. Great dude as well.

Really good guy. Most respectful and complimentary coach to Beilein. Been the same with Howard.
