2020 Transfer Market

If Olaniyi grad transfers and is interested, he’s an instant take imo.

Not sure if they have scholarships available, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rutgers got involved in this one considering Pikiell recruited him to Stony Brook.

Oh my! Good shooter and driver! Love the highlights against a mix of teams including some in the Top 15

Low major jump to Power-Conference … doesn’t usually work out well.

You’re not wrong, but I don’t think there’s a whole lot to lose taking on a player like Olaniyi for a year when he has a diverse skillset and there’s not exactly tons of guards out there to choose from.

Jeff Borzello just tweeted that he’ll be a regular transfer, not a grad, if he doesn’t stay in the draft.

Everything about this is just bizarre. Why he is even in the draft (again!), why he is leaving Purdue and just a bizarre player and game.

Matt Haarms and Nojel Eastern were supposed to be breakout stars for Purdue last year.

Instead, both took a lateral step at best (I’d argue a step back) and opted to transfer this offseason.

Can start to put the pieces together as far as Purdue’s 16-15 season…

Not really a “Ewing Theory” but that Purdue team as configured didn’t work. It will be interesting to see what Purdue looks like this year with a new identity.

Should be a huge offseason for Eric Hunter Jr. and I’m curious to see freshmen guards Newman (RS), Ivey, Morton.

whispers Nojel might look pretty good next to Eli Franz and Livers

Would need a waiver otherwise he’d be next to ___, ___ and ____.

Lineup would probably never happen but a smith, Brooks, Franz, eastern livers lineup intrigues me a lot.

Hell of a press release.

I will never understand how someone can be this poor of a shooter.

Sounds like Painter is pissed lmao

Interesting, thanks! Less of a take, in that case, but I do like his skill set!

Speaking of Stony Brook:

6’1" guard, most minutes on the team last year, and second leading scorer. Wonder what’s going on at SB where the three far-and-away best players from last season are transferring/leaving within the past 24 hours.

Yikes. Think there are any sour grapes with that transfer?!

I don’t mind Eastern as a sit-one/play-one transfer … if the immediate transfer waiver comes through later this summer then he’d be a good rotational player behind Brooks/Wagner at the 2/3 spot.

But with the number of scholarships open for the 2021-22 season, he might be more valuable to the staff as a sit-one/play-one – with Jackson and not much else on the current backcourt depth chart. (I know things will change and recruits will come; I’m not panicking but someone who has played 20+ mpg in the B1G gives a nice “floor” for future projections)

Hard pass for me. We don’t need another sub 50% free throw shooter. Zavier had so many other positive attributes that I could live with the free throw shooting (and celebrated his hard work to improve on it). Not saying Nojel doesn’t have other talents and he may be a good defender, but he is a black hole on offense.

I’ve always envisioned Nojel Eastern as Charles Matthews after the Space Jam monsters took all his talents.
