If we ended up with 2 of the 3 of Greg, Cormac, Carmody I would be ecstatic. Any combo.
I have no dog in this fight whatsoever, but I will intervene here since youāre 100% wrong about this. Weāve blown out kenpom numbers 32, 20, and 36 so far. Thatās a bit more than one singular blowout win, and is more than adequate at showing what this team can be if they max out their effort.
Few thoughts-
Bamba isnāt coming here, Beilein and staff need to play %'s here and offer someone else now and not wait. Be it Elliott or whoever. Elliott and Poole would be a dynamic and talented 4 year combination at the 2 for UM.
MSU & Izzo revived some serious aid with their '16 class. Idk how much credit I give them with that one. Good get in Jaren Jackson. Iām not a huge Tillman fan. I donāt see them recruiting much better then UM right now. Izzās classes before '16 were garbage, Bridges is gone after this year, maybe Ward the next? Weāll see. But I donāt think they are at some other level.
Snow on scout said itās between Creighton and Arizona for Bowen, with Zona having a fairly big lead. That kid can ball so Iām glad heās leaving the state. He and Langford would be a pain for 2-3 years.
I donāt love carnody. Iām shocked heās ranked that high. I like Elliot, Ryan , and the kid I kept peddling in 2018 recruiting thread much more.
I do not lose sleep that we donāt lead.
Iād be ok with an Elliot offer and happy to have him. I just really like our roster outside of pg next year. Iād really prefer we try and add a grad transfer who can give us 20 or more at the point and then take an 18 2 guard. I think that would make more sense logistically and balance wise. That said if we add Elliot Iāll be ok with it and I think he fills a need for sure. Adding him to Jordan, x, and Brooks, makes a lot of sense skillset wise. Iād just pray x somehow is ready to play 25-30 well. I donāt want to ruin the 2018 teams chance to make a run
Hmmm. When I watch film on Carmody, his shot looks really pure. I do like Elliott, though. Would not be disappointed at all if we offered and he accepted.
Just watched that film. Really nice. Great game. Really like his potential at the next level. Def a big time college product. Not surprised the offers are heating up.
Ummmm, you point out that Izzo landed a probable one and done (Bridges) and possibly another two and gone (Ward) in 2016 and then he lands Jackson and you still say he is not out recruiting Michigan right now? Shaking my headā¦
On the face of it, Izzo is killing us lately. But letās see how all these choices earn out. I think that because of our more demanding criteria and his system, Beilein has to recruit teams as well as playersāmaybe to a greater degree than Izzo. That may make us more precarious in some ways, more resilient in others.
Duke is feeling the pain of recruiting a bunch of talented players who fit together like a square peg in a round hole. I wonder if this is what MSU is going through right now, as even when taking their injury situation at center into account, their roster makeup doesnāt make a whole lot of sense.
Yes, I pointed out that aside from the 2016 class that was handed to him, Izzoās classes have been garbage. Hence why they are at the bottom of the B1G. They havenāt had good classes. Jackson is a good player, but UMās class is better overall. Lol, manā¦
If Beilein waits a week for Cassius, Bridges isnāt at MSU.
Hereās the beauty of itā¦Nojel Eastern didnāt pick MSU because he and his family canāt stand Brian Bowen/his family. And in my conversations with AZ commits, they say Bowen is picking Arizona.
Eastern working for us despite picking Purdue lol
The list of people that Nojel Eastern and his family canāt stand seems to be pretty long. Good luck, Matt Painter.
Pure speculation on speculation, and I hadnāt heard anything about Eastern and his family having troubles getting along with others , butā¦ That doesnāt seem like the kind of kid Beilein would like in his program, and could be a big reason Eastern didnāt get offered.
He did get offered, but it was only on the table until brooks snatched it.
I was wondering if anyone else knew about this lol.
Now that heās signed elsewhere, Iāll make it public. Nojel Eastern/his family arenāt big fans of Jordan Pooleā¦at all. But I will say that didnāt really factor into his choice of not choosing Michigan
Incorrect. His offer was on the table until after Livers committed. He tried to commit to Michigan literally a few hours after Isaiah did, at which point he was turned away.
Not liking Bowen isnāt really a shockā¦heās not liked by many people in the AAU community.
Izzo has had that problem in the past, remember the sleepovers when he tried to get his team on the same page? I havenāt heard that this season, he seems to like the team and their work ethic.
Dylan Iām quite confident that you know this, but the issue isnāt Nojel per se
Letās not turn this into a Nojel Eastern re-hash, that probably belongs in some kind of Big Ten recruiting thread. And yeah, wasnāt a shot at Nojel at all ā just pointing one of the many things that a coach has to deal with.
Back to Greg Elliottā¦ 47 points on 13-of-30 (3-8 3pt) shooting (16-of-23 at the FT line) and 8 rebounds in front of Tom Izzo is impressive.
