I get it, still frustrated. Still think it’s crap though. We’d have been just as good in sec or big twelve imo. Rooting for a nice pairing now

Yes, it’s good to remind people that our seeding isn’t going to be based solely on how we’re playing right now.

I think it would be interesting if Michigan remained a 6 and had to play the winner of a play-in game. Then Michigan would have that 2nd game advantage potentially for both of its opening weekend games, since their first round opponent would have to split its prep time leading up to the tournament between the play-in game opponent and Michigan.

It works both ways though. Beilein wouldn’t have several days to gameplan for one team. They would have to waste some time gameplanning for a team that they won’t even play. Also, I think there’s a stat that a play-in team has made the sweet 16 each year it has been in existence. The game gets the jitters out. Not sure which scenario is better

I don’t know much about their rosters, but based purely on KenPom I’d like to avoid Loyola and Middle Tennessee if we get a 5. Would much prefer a weak at-large team.

I think we would rock mdsu.
I know nothing about Loyola.

Does the selection committee vote on teams and use a similar process to bracketmatrix or do they all discuss a team until they reach a consensus on where it should go?

Sounds like a whole bunch of secret ballots in a more time consuming process than the bracketmatrix approach. There must be some discussion/consensus regarding contingencies for late-happening games, although if this really is the process, you can see why Sunday games or even Saturday games might have less impact than otherwise.

If we beat Nebraska it looks like we’ll most likely get a 5 with 6 being the low end. Would a loss to Nebraska drop us a seed line, so most likely a 6 but possibly a 7? As long as we stay on the 6 line I will not care, would like to stay away from the 7 like we got last year. The 3 and 4 seeds will be mostly interchangeable and based on matchups.

Apparently St Joe’s hammering Rhode Island is worthy of bumping us up a seed

Note: Bart Torvik has us as a safe 5 seed with us gaining a seed for every win we get from here on out.

Total “House Money” situation now: wont be favored against MSU or Purdue, but playing our best ball of the season. Nowhere to go but up

Are we rooting for Penn State against OSU beyond typical “it’s OSU” reasons?

Yep. Might be enough to make that a Quad 1 win

Well those are good reasons already…

I’m not sure we even care, so there! (Sticks imaginary tongue out at both teams.)

Sooooooo, Simpson and Matthews going 8/8 from the line is pretty cool.

Only thing is that Rahk now seems to be struggling at the line…

A win appears to move Penn St. into the quadrant 1 category, at least for the time being…

Was curious to see if Rider getting upset in the MAAC tournament as the #1 seed hurt PSU, and it turns out Rider is only one spot below PSU in RPI (66 and 67). I know a home loss to a MAAC team isn’t good, but the loss isnt as much of a ‘bad loss’ as the networks like to put in their graphics.
