2015 Guard and Wing Recruiting (PJ Dozier, etc.)

Crazy how fast these things progress

Prince Ali's brother hinted at him possibly signing with Louisville. I would not oppose one bit! #PrinceToLouisville

Michigan Wolverines hit oil last time digging in Canada (Stauskas) they are aggressively pursuing 2015 Dillon Brooks & 2016 Jamal Murray.

Dillon Brooks also plays for CIA bounce and Findlay. He notched 27 points and eight rebounds against Team USA and averaged a tournament high 25.2 points per game. Scored a ton of point efficiently, rebounded, blocked shots and got in the passing lanes, plus shot the 3 at a 30% clip in EYBL. Has the strength of a bigman with the ballskills of a wing.

From the film above im not a big fan of Brooks. Below average athlete, weak handle, can’t really determine if he’s a good shooter. One thing I do like about Brooks is that he consistently finished through contact and is very aggressive. Looks to be carrying some bad weight. I don’t think he can bully defenders at the college level and I don’t think he has enough size and/or skill to compensate at this point.

If he can bully Stanley Johnson, Justice Winslow and Jaylen Brown… he can bully ANY wing in the NCAA.

Looks more explosive than say Chatman, Irvin, Ahmad or Towns.

Dillon Brooks dropping 27 on team USA

Problem is that he isn’t a wing/guard, his skillset would dictate that he play in the post and he isn’t going to bully any big 10 post player in that manner.

I think he can easily play the left or right wing. Hoiberg and Beilein seem to agree.

No way he has the handle to be a 3, and lacks the size to be a 4. He appears to be able to bully HS players because he outweighs most by 25-35 lbs. once that advantage disappears, his skillset is nowhere near good enough to create space at a high major level based on that film. If Freddy and John disagree, more power to them. I would only consider Brooks as a last resort.

If someone can bully Stanley Johnson they can bully anyone. And his handle looks better than Irvin. And he has produced against top level competition, both domestic and international. I think its easy to over evaluate but he is a sure thing in college imo.

I guess the million dollar question is whether or not Brooks can shoot from deep? If so, there may be some opportunity for him at the PF spot, but other than that I don’t really see what he would bring to the table for us.

His handle is far too weak to play the 3, he is far too small for the 4. I look at GR3 as the threshold - if he can’t shoot at a better clip than GR3 from deep, I don’t think there is anything Brooks brings that will help us. He’s not going to create for himself or the team, and he certainly can’t defend a wing and is too small to defend the 4…just don’t see where he can help us unless he can shoot from deep.

No mention of UM contacting McQuaid yet (doesn’t necessarily mean we haven’t though)

Creighton holds pole position for McQuaid.

#ISU and #Illini have offered 2015 SF Dillon Brooks (Canada), and #KUbball, #MSU and #GoBlue could offer soon.

UNC watching Kenny Williams, just received an offer from OK State. Have a feeling Williams is going to be getting a few more offers from high majors in the coming weeks

Roy Williams is here to watch Edrice Adebayo, Matt Coleman and Kenny Williams.

I think 95% of the board has Coleman/Ali 1 or 1a for 2015 wings. Dozier isn’t coming here (sister attends S. Carolina). After that it just comes down to personal preference I guess. I think we would all like a dominant rebounding big like Dickerson, but realistically, I’ll believe an upper tier big is coming to UM when an LOI is signed.

For 2016, it’s unanimous from what I can tell…fans, bloggers, coaches all have DTJ as the #1 priority regardless of position. For the 2/3 spot, can certain posters stop jumping down my throat and finally admit the fact that Battle isn’t coming here…let’s move on to realistic options. From the limited film I’ve seen, I like Murray, need to see if Langford and Brown can shoot. At the 3/4 Towns is probably the most realistic option, and a good one at that. I like Ahmad more, but he most likely isn’t coming here unless he visits prior to Aug. 15. Have a bad vibe on Leaf for some reason, no objective basis, just a bad vibe.

If we strike out with Coleman/Ali, Williams is probably my preferred choice.

Chopping trough footage from 3 events and Kenny Williams of Boo Williams I'm ready to say most consistent shooter in nation

Williams is so one-dimensional and small.

Williams is so one-dimensional and small.

I know you love length on the perimeter (hence you’re unfavorable view on Williams)…but how the heck do you prefer Dillon Brooks over players like Williams and Bruce Brown is beyond me. Talk about a recruit being one dimensional…

Brooks finishes, has a middle game, passes, rebounds, can post up small guys and has a 3 pt shot that can keep a D honest.

The thought of Bruce Brown or Kenny Williams matching up against Stanley Johnson and Justice Winslow is hilarious.
