Styles Of Point Guard Play

I take it you would prefer Corey Sanders over Goodin, Murray and Winston huh? He has everything you swear everyone else lacks right?

Curious to see what you guys think - do you like pass first PGs that create and get into the lane to make shots for the team (DTJ/Winston) as a primary attribute, or do you prefer shoot first PGs (Aiken)? Or perhaps a mixture of both (Goodin)?

Not sure if I'd call Steve Nash marginal, but the right system made him a two-time MVP.

Steve Nash was very good pre-Phoenix, and very good post-Antoni…when you’re good, system just doesn’t matter all that much. Can it enhance your game or give you more opportunity…I can buy that, but for the most part, you can either play or you can’t.

Nope, Sanders doesn’t shoot all that well…so that is his flaw. Goodin certainly doesn’t lack athleticism, and Murray is no slouch either in that department.

Don’t turn the ball over
Knock Down the open 3
Quick enough to force help defense
Has dog in his defense!!!

Anything on top of that is icing on the cake for me.

You pretty much described DeVearl Ramsey.

What are your thoughts on him?

I know nothing about him other than he’s listed at 5ft 11" but looks shorter than that, which scares me a little.

From everything I’ve read and seen, a damn good defensive player. Can certainly knock down shots off catch and shoot. Very quick and fast, but will probably have trouble finishing in college based on size. At his best in transition…reminds me of Russ Smith because he plays the game at 2 tempos - fast and faster.

It was a poor game, but watching Ramsey at EYBL was a bit disappointing. He didn’t get much done inside and really struggled throughout. His quickness is impressive, but I’m not sure how the overall fit would be there.

Yeah, I have wondered if he can run a half court offense in college. Think Ramsey would be great for Louisville or WVU.

Or Texas with Shaka.

Think Nolan Richardson would’ve loved Ramsey!
