Right. There’s never been any proof of him doing anything shady. It’s just been implied because he’s around. Wes is so damn powerful he’s one of those dudes who’s name will probably never get traced back to doing something illegal even if he does do stuff. He’s pretty much above the trouble. I’m guessing he maybe has but I’ve also heard he does a lot of good so who knows. I ain’t one to judge. Always behind the scenes and almost nothing good or bad can be connected to him even if he was around it.
He also supposedly is connected to Michigan’s EYBL team The Family but idk that connection even though I know a few higher people in The Family. I’ve never asked either. You aren’t supposed to talk about Wes I feel like.
One retained assistant from Beilein, one NBA guy, and one experienced college head coach. That’s pretty much what everyone’s hope was at the start of all this.

Seems to be a best-case type of hire to me. My primary question is: Martelli has been a head coach for ~25 years. Is he willing to take a step back and defer to Howard, or does this team end up looking like a St. Joe’s team stylistically?
Yes. That is believed to be how he got his nickname as well. Based on who Howard is bringing in, the people he knows and his own likely relationship with him, it may be a safe bet to assume WWW will be around Michigan more or will be behind the scenes around UofM. He may not be physically around AA, but he may be moving cards in favor of UofM. I’m personally for it. Also, it is rumored Jett and Jace could transfer to Ypsilanti Lincoln. If the Howards and Emoni Bates are on the same team, that seems like a good opportunity for a guy like WWW to be around just because of the talent of players. WWW supposedly has played big roles in LeBron and Michael Jordan’s lives at various points in their careers.
Not that this is surprising but running through saint Josephs offer lists on 247 for the last several years they recruited the hell out of PA, NJ, and the DMV. Those would seem to be the areas Martelli will bring and they are areas um can have a lot of success in IMO. Also an interesting thing is we now have a staff with no real ties to Ohio and Indiana. Those states were huge for us under Beilein but it looks like focus will get shifted to Chicago and out east.
I’m hip to him being around. I think it won’t matter whether people do or don’t want him because he will probably be around regardless of opinion. It sounds like he’s been around as it is. And if he was around Beilein when he was here then it likely means he is a decent dude because we all know how Beilein is/was. He don’t deal with dirty people regardless of who they were. I wonder if Martelli knows him? I’m guessing so since Wes is technically an east coast guy and Martelli has been around forever and is a huge name.
It is well acknowledged that WWW sent players to Cal. But the accusation of WWW helping Derrick Rose cheating on his SAT lacks basic evidence. It was pretty easy to cheat before they required photo ID. Maybe FBI can make Derrick Rose talk as part of college admission scandal investigation.
