honestly we prepare guys like him for the nba better than unc. track record is there.
They have 11 ships filled right now before Harris.
Pierce isnāt going to the NBA
But he has said that Beilein players are well prepped for a pro career in that league or others.
Iām glad to hear that indications about the visit are positive. UNC and ND will be tough to beat out but I like our odds. Shooting was such a glaring need for us I think Pierce can help a ton and potentially be a perfect fit. Im interested to see what direction his decision goes and I bet the decision is around a week from today.
Looks like Anthony Harris just committed to UNC. I dont know if that affects the decision much seeing that Harris is a CG but who knows. Anyone know if Pierce would be a guaranteed starter at UNC or not? Do they even have room for him scholarship-wise?
I think I read somewhere that Roy Williams likes Pierce but given the uncertainty on high caliber players he is still recruiting, he will not be able to make the same case we can on his likely playing time next year.
Not sure how many they have available, but grad transfer Christian Keeling is taking an official to UNC before Pierce I believe.
I just read that #3 Cole Anthony and #65 Anthony Harris both committed to UNC today. How does this effect UNCās scholarship availability for Justine Pierce?
UNC has 1 scholarship left
And how many more players are they trying to recruit for that one remaining spot?
Right now it seems to be Pierce, Kellogg, and Precious Achiuwa. Supposedly they offered the kid that just committed to Virginia, I think his last name is McKoy.
So assuming they do have room for Pierce, even if they are looking at other people, is playing time or starting a guarantee for him at UNC? Seems like there are lots of guards on the roster so Iām thinking its possible but Iām not sure. Maybe somebody knows their situation well.
Well, they lost Nasir Little, Luke Maye, and Cam Johnson from the 3/4 spot and they donāt really have guys that are 4s at the moment. The two guys that could fill in are Brandon Robinson and Leaky Black. Both of those guys are much more 3ās than 4ās.
Heās much more of a three in Royās system. He still plays with two bigs. I guess that could change, but I think the three is the only place he really fits if Williams sticks with what heās done at UNC.
However, Leaky Black is probably the only true competition there given Brandon Robinson being 6ā4ā 170 heading into his senior year. I doubt Williams would start him at SF. Plus the roster makeup might force the better of Black and Robinson to start at shooting guard despite both being relatively unproven. Iād say there wouldnāt be a guarantee for Pierce, but a pretty strong āyou have a damn good shot at startingā pitch.
For some reason, NC just doesnāt worry me as much as ND. There was a reason ND was the favorite a few weeks back. From what I read, the kid is from Chicago and wants to finish his career closer to his family. I donāt know NDās roster but considering Pierce is a grad transfer, playing alongside 2 other seniors and a junior might be more appealing than playing with a few highly rated freshmen at NCar.
Agreed, hope he sees that. I think his future is somewhere other than the nba though as someone else pointed out but who knows.
Could be interesting to see how this one impacts Justin Pierceās visit. Keeling just visited UNC and set an announcement date but it is after Pierceās visit date (and likely decision date)
