On 2015 Recruiting, Our Style of Play, And The Need For Big Men

Now all of this is my opinion

Then please stop acting like it is fact and discrediting all other opinions with statements like “may be the worst thing I’ve read on this forum”, and “I’ve yet to hear a legit reason”. This forum can do without that self-rigtheousness.

And honestly, I don’t think who “starts” is of much importance. It is all about MPG and rotations. There is no way, “NONE”, that Chatman plays 15mpg or less next year (like you predicted). I will bet my left testicle on that one.

I’m sorry, I thought everything was already prefaced by in my opinion and didn’t need to be said? I agree minutes distribution is more important than who starts but there is a heavy correlation.

If Nik is on our roster, Chatman is most likely not getting more than 20 mpg. That is the harsh reality. Only way that I can see that scenario happening is if Walton got supplanted by LeVert at PG lol.

Size, vision, versatility, and passing ability ( of which we sorely lack ) are Chatman attributes that we most definitely can use. He will be an integral part of any lineup we put on the floor next year IMO. I hesitate to pigeon hole his position this early because talent and skill usually find an opening.

Who lacks vision, size and passing ability in our lineup?

Versatility seems like a good reason to bring him off the bench and plug him into where he can get minutes a freshman.

Dylan, I would have Chase Jeter slightly ahead of Ellenson but either big man would do. Are we still involved with Stone?

Versatility seems like a good reason to bring him off the bench and plug him into where he can get minutes a freshman.

Or how about letting a freshman focus on learning one position rather than multiple positions, while letting an equally versatile 3 year player come off the bench and plug him where he can get minutes?

Guys Kameron Chatman can play a number of positions, and he probably will. Something to remember though: he’s a lefty and that makes him a perfect fit to play the four offensively.

How does that even make sense? Not condescending, I really want to understand and am always open to change my opinion on the matter.

So next year, our best wing defender, best wing rebounder, best passing non-PG, probably our best and most efficient scorer, best penetrator who also has the highest steals/ blocks rate out of all our wings is going to come off the bench so that a freshman can learn one position when the freshman’s main utility is his versatility?

Literally, the only thing LeVert has to do is solidify his deep shooting (which would increase his offensive portability) , increase his court awareness (which would make him a legitimate comboguard) and add weight (which would increase his efficiency at finishing) and he is a pro player. If LeVert can get into the CP3 or Lebron camps like Chatman then it’s a done deal. Irvin and Chatman have WAY more holes in their game guaranteed. Irvin would come off the bench before LeVert.

If Nik comes back do you think Chatman would start over LeVert? Irvin?

Didn’t say that I thought Kam would start or not. Just that I would suspect he’ll play significant minutes at the four throughout his career. I have trouble deciphering what you guys are even arguing about at this point.

Presuming that Nik stays and Mitch/Glenn leaves, who logs the most minutes at the 2-4 spots?

I think this thread is just a cesspool of random thoughts about the BB program’s future to help the lull period when games aren’t being played

Precisely. We are all pretty well versed in our UMBB knowledge, otherwise we wouldn’t be here. This is why I think discussions can do without the MLive “worst thing I’ve read on this forum” type insults.

Pretty unique list.

According to his father, Luke Kennard down to Kentucky, Louisville, Duke, North Carolina, Ohio State, Michigan and Florida.

He will decide in the spring. Sound like we might be fourth behind UK, OSU, Duke, in that order.

I think if Stauskas goes pro and vacates that spot, maybe that can sway him and we can sell him as being the next Stauskas?

We’d need to find a late signee in the spring for 2014, as well.

Once the desire to renovate his mentality and his body set in, everything came fast — including, as it happens, recalibrated plans. Stauskas and his family wondered what people were missing about his capabilities for so long. Now, the hunger to demonstrate those capabilities this season might inspire a much shorter wait on future opinions elicited from, say, NBA executives.

“He sees the brass ring, like three inches away from his nose,” Paul Stauskas said. “He knows all he has to do is keep his nose to the grindstone for another couple of months, and there’s a really good possibility he might be able to go pro. He’s working really hard to achieve that.”

We might want to start looking for a 2014 wing for Spring lol
