What I expected - Thornton, Battle, Leaf, Teske, Towns. Mild surprise on Winston getting his offer, but it does put a little heat on Thornton if he’s really loving Michigan.
Well I have seen Winston from at least 7 ft away and was very impressed with his court awareness and poise. Lol. Thorton didn’t score once when being covered by CW… And vice versa. Come on Matt, not all HS players play with 100% intensity 100% of the time. Just like you criticized Wilson and his move in the post and lateral quickness.
Winston, by all accounts, outplayed DT at camp, has done nothing by rise in the rankings (which means almost nothing excuse I don’t respect many of the scouts on payroll) and will not drop to the 50-70 range. In fact he stood out again this weekend and the top 100 camp, mentioned on Evan Daniels twitter fwiw.
All that being said, yes I want Thorton, especially if he paired up with Battle.
I just can’t stand folks giving inaccurate or incomplete scouting reports when it’s not the case. Preferring a player over another is ok, everyone has thier opinions, but now your going with Winston dogging it ect… Your better then that.
I would be interested to know if the coaches feel they got their top PG target in 2013 with Walton by offering PGs the way they did. I wasn’t subscribing to pay sites back then, so I don’t recall if there was much priority between the three targets at the time aside from Jackson maybe being slightly lower than Morris and Walton. If Walton was their top target, I’m guessing they would try the same tactic again with Winston and maybe Goodin to apply some pressure to Thornton.
Matt D I think you have a problem in projecting what a player can be, and go with literally you see at that given moment. I have seen this in numerous posts. And I’m not putting you down at all, just stating my opinion. Are you on board with how this staff is recruiting yet?

What’s inaccurate about what I said? I openly acknowledge he is very skilled offensively. He is not a good defender and very limited athletically - those are true statements.
Furthermore, he’s already dropped to #54 in Recent updated rankings from ESPN.
I openly prefer Thornton, as I think 95% of UM fans do. That being said Winston is a good player and I wouldn’t be mad if he came to UM. That being said Thornton is a better player now, but the bigger point is that Thornton will be better in college, and his ceiling is exponentially higher.
That being said, what did I say that’s inaccurate?
If Winston is visiting next week then it's probably over unless Thornton jumps up and takes it this week.
I ask only because I don’t know. Is there some reason you think Winston is likely to commit next week? I myself think it possible only because it is possible/has happened that players commit on visits.
Goodin is a good offer, though I still want Thornton to commiit heh. Seems the coaches may indeed be playing the offers to pressure Thornton to commit. That’s what I’m really hoping is the case.
Like his upside, poor man’s Baron Davis. A big thick lead guard with good athleticism and a good passer. Change of direction not as good as Baron in HS and his jumpshot has low release with very bad mechanics from the waist down. I think he has a lot of potential to be a really good TWO WAY player, which is what I crave.
Goodin is a good offer, though I still want Thornton to commiit heh. Seems the coaches may indeed be playing the offers to pressure Thornton to commit. That’s what I’m really hoping is the case.
If his shot comes along, he is a candidate at the 2.

Supposedly still going through a major growth spurt, too.

Murray, Leaf and Swanigan are the only ? left.
I believe the reports say that Leaf is expected to receive his offer at 6pm Pacific Time. Obviously a ? until we get official word, but I’m 100% expecting him to be offered today.
Well I hope this offer frenzy serves to pacify some detractors regarding our policies and number of lines we have in the water. Is there anybody out there who thinks 2 of Thornton, Winston, and Goodin could co-exist together? Nothing would surprise me when JB starts his potion making on the diagram board. Are we missing anything?
I am extremely pleased they offered Thornton, Winston & Goodin. They are ALL good enough. Some may prefer one over the other but really- - we should be pleased if any come to Michigan to be our point guard. remember when we were wondering which of Booker, Bluitt, Blackmon would be our 2g. NONE made it through. Cannott assume Thornton would either -so offer who is worthy & all of them are. Also - I actually think Goodin could end up a 2g & coexist with one of the others.
Towns on other hand - I truly do not get it…but whatever - coaches must see much more than I. Teske - big body that just don’t know much about…saw the shortest recruit clip ever of 30 seconds…anyone have anything else on Teske?
