Other than Dobbins, I did not come away feeling like there was a massive talent disadvantage at all.

The following mistakes directly cost the team roughly 21 points:
Don Brown rushing 7 on a 2nd and 18
Shea’s fumble in the red zone
DPJ dropping a touchdown
A late hit on McGrone that would have been 3rd and long
Khaleke jumping offsides on a punt
Haskins not following a blocker on a 4th and 1 that would have been a 10 yard gain minimum

I don’t know who is to blame, but it was there for the taking

I mean a bunch of mistakes don’t undo the fact that they then used their NFL receivers to bomb throws over Metellus and Gray after those. I’d say the talent advantage that their WR’s and O-Line have was the difference in this game. The defensive line looked absolutely awful against the run because they couldn’t get any push on their 5 star linemen. Gattis did a good job calling plays that Shea could get the ball out of his hands quickly on, but M couldn’t get the run going at all when the game was still in question.

We knew Michigan would have to play a nearly flawless game to win and they didn’t. After watching, I’d say both that plus OSU being dumb was necessary to win. It sucks that it didn’t happen, but it’s not like perfect storm games like that are common and I’m pretty sure we used ours up against ND. Onto Louisville.

Feels like you need to move on from Don Brown, at this point. I’m not sure if we’ve ever been able to be competent against a high-level passing game. Running the same thing back over and over doesn’t feel like it’s gonna change anything.

What defensive coordinator do you want them to hire? Who has stopped OSU this year that you think would be a good fit here?

I understand this perspective, I just think Michigan played a much poorer game than close to flawless, or even average. This was significantly worse showing from what this team has shown in the last 6 weeks IMO. Yes, some of that is due to Ohio State being the best team in the country. But it was also a lack of discipline and execution that mirrored the Army and Wisconsin games from earlier this year.

Michigan playing a flawless game today could have been a victory. Michigan playing a good game should have been a 1 score game today, not a 30 point blowout. Again - just my opinion and I understand how others could see it differently

Good luck to whoever takes over our dearth of CBs and DTs.

And I guess my point is that if you need to play flawlessly to win it’s because of a big talent disadvantage.

I mean, MSU held OSU to 34 points. It’s definitely not impossible to hold OSU below 50, lmao.

Wonder who bears responsibility for the defensive talent on the roster?

So we should hire Mike Tressel. Interesting.

Life could have been different with Aubrey Solomon.

I mean, we’ve gotten blown out by every high level passing attack we’ve faced over the past 3 years or so. Seems crazy to say there is no room for improvement there. I don’t know every DC in the country unfortunately. I like Don Brown generally, but settling for failure seems like a poor decision. Risks are worth it when the status quo is not satisfying.

I literally asked who you think they should hire lmao. How do you possibly infer this quote from that

It’s fine everywhere but those. Don’t know what’s Zordich has been doing the last 2 years but we stopped landing elite CBs. Solomon and some missed killed DT.

Morgan Scalley or Zach Arnett seem like they could be options. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If we move on from Don Brown I won’t be mad, but just not sure where to go. He’s obviously been very good. And the first two years against OSU he really stopped them about as well as you possibly could. Don’t know what happened he last 2

OSU had a QB who couldn’t throw in 16 and 17. Past two years they’ve had a passing attack.

We also had crazy good trios of corners those years IIRC

I’m not sure moving on from Brown is the right move. I don’t think moving on from Harbaugh will ever be a realistic option.

But I find myself pondering this. If Harbaugh + Brown or anyone else he wants alongside him is the staff for the next five years, do I really believe the end result will be anything besides 0-10 against Ohio State? Based on the cyclical nature of “they’re out-recruiting us” + “they’re out-playing us” + Ryan Day picking up directly where Urban left off, I would say I can’t see this team winning this game under this regime.

And if 10-2 with a loss to Ohio State is okay with the fan base, then we need to just accept that as normal. But it doesn’t seem like anyone will ever accept that - I know I don’t want to.
