Off Topic: 2019 Michigan Football

I would be very surprised if we get more than 10 points. I think it’ll open at like 8.5 but yeah your point stands.

I think it’ll be a competitive game, at least. Might win, but not betting on it.

This feels obvious to me but curious other folks’ opinions. Would you rather beat OSU in football today or go undefeated in basketball through the rest of 2019?

  • Football OSU Win
  • Basketball zero losses in 2019

I’ve experienced plenty of OSU losses so what’s one more? I’ll take undefeated and it shouldn’t be close. I can see the argument if Michigan would win the division with a win today, but we have nothing to play for besides beating OSU.

Unless you just mean this calandar year and not this seaso’?

I assumed it was the rest of the calendar year. Juwan getting an undefeated season would change my answer.

I intended the rest of the calendar year but if folks are going with the entire season for that interpretation, I am fine with it

If it’s for the calendar year, entire season, or just the game against Louisville, my vote is for the hoops team. The labored efforts to make the UM/OSU football game more than it is has an entire generation of fans wondering why their parents and grandparents are making a big deal out of the yearly beatdown from the Buckeyes. I used to be frustrated by it but it’s so commonplace that it’s not a blip anymore. OSU has been a better football program for essentially the past 20 years or so, prove it nearly every year, and show no signs of a downturn. Not worth the anger.

Football team should leave the B1G. Get NDSucks back on the schedule and take OSU off until 2033.

I took it as the calendar year (aka wins over Louisville, Oregon, Iowa and Illinois). If it was the whole basketball season then the poll should be unanimous 100% in favor of actually winning something that matters. But if the question was finally beating OSU or winning a few games that would be fun but not mean much, I’d take the monkey off the back. Not gonna happen though.

A road win against the new #1 team in the country, a win over Oregon, and starting Big Ten play 2-0 vs. “bragging rights”.

Easy choice for me.

And then we could still end up getting upset in round 2 or something. I’ll take the OSU win. Michigan basketball will be fine

Based on the poll they could still go 3-1 in those games + a win over OSU. Easy choice.

I’m no football maven, but I never understand the wildcat play in such situations, with the entire defense keying on the back.

I’m more upset that Black didn’t fight for that first down than the wildcat call.

OSU is just in their best stretch in program history. During any other era, I think we’d be more than happy with the job JH was doing.

Don’t know what the answer is. Gotta find a way to get better.

Fucking sucks. Hate their fans. Work in Toledo and have relatives that are OSU fans. Intolerable 95% of the year.

Gonna be tough the way OSU is recruiting right now.

Yep. Our only hope is that Ryan Day is Larry Coker or Frank Solich reincarnated.

That sucked, but at least it just seemed like OSU had a talent advantage everywhere instead of last year where the schemes were just awful.
