Hey guys if your not watching M women vs UNC on espn 2 you are missing a KBA clinic M up 23 midway 2q.
Would really like them to clean up the the turnovers. They’re getting bailed out by the UNC offensive fouls. Great start to the half, rough finish.
Chyra Evans said NO
Same joke but the women’s team need to teach the men’s team how to rebound
Man, these officials have been awful, both ways.
Maddie needed that make from 3 so very badly. Glad to see one finally go down. 14 straight misses from 3 before that for an assassin.
Gotta be honest: did not think Michigan would go to Charlotte and knock off a near-top-5 Carolina team. Huge win and a testament to where this program has come. Keep it going ladies!
Great game (Spectacular 1st half, good enough 2nd half) for the women. Go Blue!
The one call that just brought me out of my chair was when Evans took it the hole along the right baseline and the Carolina girl just banged into her on the drive. The girl was turned sideways and was moving and went right into Chrya. Easiest call ever but they called it an offensive foul against Chyra. What?!? I was grumbling about it five minutes later when my wife finally said, “just give it up, they’re gonna win the game, just enjoy it!” And, yes, I am allowed to watch the women’s team upstairs with my wife in the room!
Also, I mean, come on. This just sounds like terrible scouting. Leigha can shoot the three when she’s feeling it–maybe look at more than just this year when it comes to a fifth year senior? Also, Chyra Evans had around 15 minutes a game the last three games… how can you not even realize she’s a factor?
I think the most interesting thing between this game and Toledo is that Michigan’s offense was so efficient when it was active. Running up the floor, moving around in the half court, setting screens and never resting. Then, when it struggled was when the offense slowed down it tight situations, focusing all of its efforts on going through the post. It’s like what they did last year when it got tight, throwing their arms up and saying “Screw it, we’ve got Naz” and letting her go to work. Last year, that led to successful outcomes against 98% of the teams it faced (Louisville being one of the 2%). This year–no offense to Emily Kiser–it doesn’t work as well. Kiser is a great player, but what makes her great is that she has a jumper and is a threat from the midrange. Not so much fighting under the basket for rebounds and layups.
I think this is dead-on.
At one point in the 4th quarter LB threw a high pass to Kiser who was literally surrounded by three UNC players. It led to a turnover and I about lost it. It gave me flashbacks to all of the entry passes they would try to force to Naz last year which would end up in turnovers. We haven’t seen the offense bog down and settle for that approach much this year, but it reared its ugly head in the second half last night (which was ironic given that the announcers spent so much of the first half talking about how this team approaches offense differently post-Naz and spreads the ball around rather than hammering the paint).
Chyra Evans is really good. I look for her to get more minutes from #44 Williams.
Is coach Banghart an alias for Tom Izzo?
I think Cameron Williams has it in her to be a good player. evans needs some tick (she’s getting it) but I think the split needs to be 50/50 ish
I’ve felt like Evans looks like a freshman out there. Williams does a nice job rebounding, I think she really does a nice job of playing within herself.
Huge week for our women’s team! Tonight at Nebraska and Saturday at Ohio state. 1-1 would be a great week. Cmon girls, let’s get it done!
Nebraska is very solid and will be ready to roll. 7pm on BTN
The Maddie Nolan breakout game
Rough close to the half, a couple of settle-threes, a turnover, a lost shooter
Laila single-handedly keeping the end of that half from being a complete disaster. The girls just fell apart there.
Does Chyra Evans have any business shooting a three? My instinct is “no”, but could be wrong.
