She hit one last game. I think it’s one of those situations where “I mean if you leave me wide open at the top of the arc and there’s not an open pass, I might as well shoot”
Alright. We’ve let Nebraska have their fun. Let’s pull away now please.
Browns a killer with that middie
Nebraska is a tough team. This one worried me with the game being on the road. No gimmes here.
They really need to close this one out well. I feel like the ball movement has not been great.
And 1! Let’s gooooo
Regardless of what happens here, 40 minutes of full-court press in Columbus might be rough given the way this team tends to turn the ball over in bunches.
5 TOS but won the 3rd quarter. We’ll take it!
Settling down here in the 4th.
Okay, a Kiser corner three might be the dagger. If you’re Nebraska, that’s a killer.
Brown has been really fantastic
Looking at the crowd, sure wish we could get consistent crowds like that at Crisler.
Also, I am so here for the Maddie Nolan shooting renaissance!
Maddie 3
Brown with a tuffff finger roll
Just curious
Nolan travels on every three point attempt right
I don’t think so. I think she catches the ball in her hop.
Laila, on the other hand, definitely does. She takes her hop after catching the ball.
Editing to add: if you are still in your “gather” during the hop it isn’t a travel. In other words, if you don’t actually have possession yet during the hop it’s not a travel. It’s the same concept as guys getting away with what looks like traveling when the first step is actually still the gather step.
Uhh, bump…
Great win for the ladies! Any conference road wins this year – especially against the top half of the conference – are huge. LB continued to play like a first-team all conference player, and hopefully Maddie regained some confidence in her shot because they are going to need that threat.
Stealing a win in Columbus would seal an incredible 3-game stretch, but if the sportsball gods require it I would gladly take an L in return for the football winning later that afternoon.
It seems like the Williams/Evans split is trending 50/50
We got beat up on the glass pretty badly there, hopefully we can find someone to clean those up
Interesting, I just came here to comment on the B1G+ announcers who are absolute and total homers, but from reading the comments, I’m either watching a different game or Michigan is about to go into a funk and Nebraska will make a run.
Through the first quarter I’m seeing our ladies move the ball really well, hit their shots at a pretty good percentage and playing terrific defense. The score is 19-5 Michigan and our girls have held Nebraska to 15% shooting. Am I going to be disappointed as I continue to watch? Hmmm…I just checked the final score, again, and we won by 17…on the the road…with a LOUD Nebraska crowd. Well, I’m gonna take a chance and keep watching.
Oh, and those officials? Now I get it, one of them is a former Nebraska women’s basketball coach. But really? You have to try, on the Big Ten’s network, to show some impartiality. It’s not the Nebraska television network, is it? Michigan is dominating, yet they’ve talked almost exclusively about Nebraska and the Nebraska players.
Well, at least I have the privilege of watching the game, as I will the men’s game tonight against the Chippewas of Central Michigan on this same “network.” I hope the men dominate tonight just as the women are dominating, at least through quarter number one, in this game.
Edit:. OK, full disclosure and in all honesty I would have become a bit concerned when Nebraska cut the lead to six twice in the third quarter with 3:05 and then 2:17 in the quarter. Nebraska was playing with a lot of energy and fight and the Cornhusker crowd was loud. But our girls played with with poise in that environment and got it to 10 at the end of the third.
The fourth quarter was just pretty much dominance by Michigan with some tremendous individual (Brown!) and team performances. Loved Emily Kiser, and loved watching Maggie shoot the three! The fourth quarter really turned out to be pretty relaxing and fun.
I love the way this team is playing…together. They share the ball. The have a very good starting five with a couple of “semi” starters coming in off the bench, with ood depth overall. They play tough defense and are smart and well coached! Fun team!
Oh, and congrats KBA on your 500th win, fifth overall winningest coach in B1G Women’s basketball history! Go Blue!
Highlighting just how good of a win last night was, HerHoopStats has Nebraska as the #30 team after the loss, and the advanced metrics gave Michigan a coin flip chance of winning on the road (expected to do so by less than a point).
As silverblue said, it got a bit tense in the 3Q but by the time the clock hit all zeroes this was a very solid win. Any win like that on the road is big. The top of the Big Ten is just loaded this year with five teams in the top 16 of the efficiency ratings:
- #5 Indiana
- #11 Ohio State
- #14 Iowa
- #15 Michigan
- #16 Maryland
Wins on the road against teams 6-14 are imperative, so last night was a biggie!
Cant complain about this start
