Michigan Women's Hoops

Yeah, it does not seem like recruiting is an issue here

There are banners that list your Sweet 16/Elite 8 appearances, but it’s not the same as raising a banner for a conference title or Final Four.

Did they try to recruit all of those girls?

I’m sure they worked on it but to see that she’s limited in range is kind of concerning. She’s projected as a top 10 pick in WNBA draft but she’s an undersized post player.

I don’t really care so long as they are bringing in good players. Naz isn’t from Michigan and she worked out fine.

From my knowledge, they recruited Jillian Brown, and Bree Salenbein. Both did not pick Michigan. They did land Jillian’s younger sister for '24 class.

Edison players leaving out of state is interesting. Maybe they never wanted to stay in-state but that’s still concerning.

Still, a pretty amazing accomplishment for this program.

Damn, we were right there, I really think if we had Brown we had a shot at that. I wouldn’t bet against Brown getting a bucket down the stretch. Honestly, we weren’t a great team when Brown was hurt, so once we heard she wasn’t coming back in…

She really was our best late game bucket getter, period. Sucks not to have her when we just couldn’t score.

And I am sure the WNBA scouts, coaches and GMs understand her strengths and limitations.

In state recruiting isn’t as big a deal in basketball as it is in football. You’re only taking 2-4 per class. You want best players, regardless of location.

They said during the telecast that Naz had dropped out of the 1st round on mocks.

I don’t think she’s coming back, but man would I like to see her with an actual backcourt.

Remember each round is only 14 players, so it’s tighter.

Yeah, if we had any kind of pretty good guard play with naz…it would be amazing.

Great season, excited to see them carry the success forward.

Sure, you want the best players but KBA has missed out on higher ranked in-state players. That should be Michigan/MSU turf and MSU has gotten more of them than Michigan.

Good point, hadn’t thought of that.

Man, it really did not help that they swallowed the whistle on a team that is all hackathon all the time the moment we got into the bonus.

Naz is eligible for super senior next year along with Brown and Raush.I think Brown has already committed to coming back.:slightly_smiling_face:

The team is on its best run of recruiting in program history.

They have a coach whose turnaround job is the basketball equivalent of Dr. Frankenstein re-animating a collection of body parts

They completed their best season ever (a year after their second best season ever) like 2 minutes ago

But we’re gonna panic NOW?

Thankfully the mens bracket is a bunch of exciting….oh it’s Duke, Kansas, UNC, and Villanova? Nevermind

Exciting to see some parity on the womens side this year at least early in the tourney.

Recruiting is relationships. If someone doesn’t have the instate ties, hard to get them. Not like MSU is cleaning up the state and as has been said, our last two classes have been our best ever.

Like no appreciation, no moment to bask in this season. Let’s freak out before the team gets back to the locker room.

It’s not panic but long term, it’s concerning that none of the top 100 in-state recruits are heading to Michigan. You’d like to see Michigan have more of a presence in-state which is non-existent.
