Michigan Players in the NBA

JP getting some run against the Celtics tonight. He’s been open a few times but doesn’t get the ball. 0-2 from the floor…once he passed up a catch and shoot for a drive. He got stripped…he’s been standing in the corner quite a bit. Hoping when Curry gets back the ball will move better.

Wasn’t being asked to stand in the corner his dad’s criticism of Beilein?

Yeah that was his dad’s criticism but at least he is getting paid to do it now

That’s what I recall and seems like his role now in the NBA. He needs to master the catch and shoot just like DR. The last shot I saw last night was all air from three…not sure what’s going on…he can shoot the rock. Must be confidence.

A great section on how the Heat use Duncan here:

First play is a set play that most NBA teams run, including the Heat (Horns with a flare), but the other two are really good examples. Awesome to see Duncan highlighted.

The Bam/Duncan PnR is so fun

It sounds like Mo is supposed to play on the International team for the Rising Stars game all-star weekend. I think he will be a fun center to watch in this type of scenario. Any wagers on a behind-the-back move?

No content on Mo but references his inclusion on the team: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/28607646/luka-doncic-trae-young-selected-rising-stars-game-all-star-weekend

I think the point was not that it was a particularly interesting play, but that Duncan’s defender felt like he couldn’t help off the screen at all, which is what opened the whole court up.

You are probably right. I just read this in the paragraph prior: “Some can’t read the game well enough to set them in the right places, at the right times,” which made me think he was highlighting one of those cases, as opposed to more of a set play.

Nice showing for UM players tonight.

THJr. - 25 pts in a win over the Pacers
Duncan - 19 pts in a win over the 76ers
Caris - 29 pts (T-career high) in his first start in 3 months in a win over the Suns
GRIII - 22 pts in a win over the Wizards
Moe - 8 pts on 4/5 shooting in his first game back since early December

Caris had a good night, he also guarded Booker for much of the game, who was held well below his average.

Moe I think will also be going to the ASG, as a participant in the rising stars challenge - one where Robinson got snubbed.

Glenn played on the Warriors with Poole and was rumored to be traded Mavs who have THJ and then did get traded to the 76ers who have Burke.

Unless the Sixers can find another trade partner by 3PM today, they will have to waive two players to complete this trade. My strong suspicion would be that Trey Burke would be on the chopping block. It would be two of him, Jonah Bolden, and Kyle O’Quinn.

Tough break for GRIII, the Sixers are a mess. They can’t get Simmons and Embiid to fit, they clog the middle. Simmons can’t shoot and from what I’ve seen the coach can’t figure it out. He’s reluctant to play Burke even though he can score from three…seems like they’ll blow this up over the summer. GRIII has really done a nice job honing his game, I just don’t think this is a great fit for him.
