I mean, that’s Kawhi.
To be fair, he’s been playing much better since his stint in the G league.

It’s hard to remember that Hardaway Jr. now, the one who had Mavericks Twitter groaning with every shot he took. I mean, look at this. Compare his stats from his bench role opening the season to what it is now. It’s uncanny how different he looks.
HARDAWAY JR. | MPG | FG % | 3P% | PPG |
---|---|---|---|---|
OFF BENCH | 22.2 | 34.4 | 29.5 | 10.2 |
AS STARTER | 28.0 | 46.9 | 43.1 | 16.5 |
What Hardaway Jr. has transformed into is a hellbent shooter who’s always looking for his next shot to launch. In a Luka-Doncic-led offense that feeds 3-point looks, that 43.1 percent shooting figure on shots from distance is exactly what’s needed. While his shooting trigger clearly feels no shame, Hardaway Jr. still leverages his frequent perimeter makes with controlled drives into the lane. He hits the occasional floater so that defenses can’t cheat. He’s shooting slightly better than 50 percent on 2-pointers outside of 10 feet, the dreaded “long 2s” region of the floor. But when you can convert half of them, the math suddenly becomes advantageous. This is why analytics have always embraced Dirk Nowitzki even in today’s mid-range cancel culture.

This is why Rick Carlisle is so well respected across the NBA. Takes guys and gets the most out of them, among the other things he does well.
Poole had a career-high 21 points (8-19 FG, 4-10 3PT, 1-1 FT) last night and the Warriors actually won a game.
Duncan hit a 3 with about 30 seconds left to effectively send the SAC vs MIA game to OT.
It is so oddly satisfying knowing that another Fanbase and coaching staff embraced/adores Duncan like we do. They love him there!
Not only has he earned the trust of fans on offense, he’s certainly earned the coaching staff’s trust too!
He hasn’t shot particularly well in the entire month, and yet he’s played 4 straight 35+ minute games, and 9 straight 25+ minute games.
His presence opens up the floor for others, even if he’s not hitting a high percentage in a given game. He was 4-10 last night(decent), but hit a critical three in the last minute. Opponents have to account for him.
You nailed it…and 40% from three is worth $100M contract in the NBA.

Yes—-Yes and Yes!!!
From yesterday but this is pretty cool to see. Duncan is thriving.
Another great night for him tonight, 21 points 6/9 from 3. It was interesting to me to hear JJ Reddick talk about him on his podcast. Basically said he’d never heard of him until this year and he’s really good. What’s ironic to me is how much Duncan reminds me of JJ taking all these shots off handoffs and screens. Really interesting to consider how JJ’s career is different if he’s a forward and not a guard, but plays the same role in an offense.
Yeah, he’s the league’s foremost catch-and-shooter this year.
(PS - look at Hardaway)
Gotta think Moe would be up there if he wasn’t injured. He’s been out for almost 2 months now … was leading the NBA in TS% a bit before the injury.
I’m not sure - Mo was actually scoring a bunch off cuts and the like, not nearly the 3-only scorers most of these guys are.
I just checked his per game stats and you’re right, he’s averaging one 3 point make per game. If he played every game to date, that’d put him in the 45ish amount for the season assuming all of them were catch and shoot.
He’s shooting 39% from 3, just on a much smaller quantity than I initially thought.
Duncan is regularly taking like 8-9 threes a game(averaging about 7.5 attempts) and it sounds like Spo and the rest of the org want him to take everything available.
Duncan’s made 4 threes in 7 straight games now I believe.
