my first, actually my second

OK, I lied that my first game was Tractor Traylor slamming the rim out the backboard against Ball State. That was my SECOND, but my first official non-exhibition.

Earlier that seasons I watched them lose an exhibition to Athletes In Action

had a promotional schedule magnet in my bedroom growing up that was for a year where they played athletes in action and i did not really understand what that meant. still don’t i guess

similarly i’ve moved my 2015-16 schedule magnet to…at least four apartments now. any time you have the chance to remember that cursed season, you have to do it!

First game was in 1999. My 2 alma maters, Michigan against Georgia Tech at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

What I recall was that Michigan won thanks to 3 freshmen: Blanchard, Groninger, and Crawford. Blanchard did what Blanchard does. Groninger hit a bunch of threes. And Jamal, you could just tell he had ‘it’. May not have been the high scorer that game, but he controlled the flow from start to finish. And I think that was only his 4th game?

Not one of Cremins better teams that year, but still. Probably one of the more fun games I’ve watched to this day.

My first game was Michigan vs Nebraska 2013. Michigan was on that undefeated start. Glenn Robinson III had a tip dunk off a missed 3 that blew my mind at the time.

Second ever game was 2014 Iowa, who was top 10 at the time. That is still the loudest Crisler atmosphere I’ve ever been in person for. Think Walton Jr was sick or something, Spike Albrecht started the game and had a steal on an inbounds pass right in front of us. I still have grainy digital camera video of Nik Stauskas crossing up Aaron White haha.

First game was the first game played at Crisler in 1967 against Kentucky and Dan Issel. We lost, but Rudy T. played great. Most memorable would be freshman Fab 5 OT loss to Duke.

First game was in the Fab Five’s soph season (92-93) but can’t remember the opponent. I do remember the cheesy graphics on the old Crisler scoreboard. Each player had his own little display when he scored. When Webber scored, it said “The Truth” I think?

Best game would be one of two in 2013: either the MSU game that year (Burke’s steal!) or the VCU game at the Palace when we destroyed their Havoc D and ended the long Sweet 16 drought. That was incredible.

I miss those days…

I don’t remember the specific game but it was sometime in the early 80’s. One of my classmates babysat for Bill Frieder’s kids and he would give her about 100 tickets. She passed them out at school so I went to a few games one season.
My one memory of a game was an overtime loss. Maybe even double-OT. I think the opponent was Illinois.

One of the friends I was with told me that the players liked giving out their sweatbands after the game, so I went down on the court with him and he yells out to Butch Wade, “Hey Butch, can I have your wristbands?” Remember, this is after an OT loss. I don’t recall the specific words Butch said, but he wasn’t happy and he didn’t say “Sure!”

Looking through the results of the year I think it was, I don’t see any overtime losses. Weird.

Am I the only one here that saw Cazzie play for Strack in Yost Fieldhouse? Been so long I don’t remember specific games. I would have been in my early to mid teens and kept box scores and stats which I typed out on my typewriter.

First game was the Josh Gasser banked in 3 vs Michigan in AA in 2011. Did not love that.

Best game was FF vs Loyola for sure

And I thought I was one of the old guys around here! :joy:

Don’t remember my first game. Been to quite a few memorable losses:
Blown out at Crisler by Flyin’ Illini last regular season game then the teams met in Final Four a few weeks later
Loss to Villanova for Natty.
Loyola Marymount loss in Long Beach.
Embarrassing loss to Xavier at home
Embarrassing loss to IU at home. I think Indiana scored last 28 points of first half.
Loss to OSU at home. Seemed season was unwinding but Coach Beilein turned it around immediately after.
Loss to North Carolina in Charlotte; Antoine Joubert and Garde Thompson senior season

Seen some memorable wins too:
North Carolina at home. Blowout victory
Glen Rice and the boys comeback victory against South Alabama in Atlanta on way to national championship. South Alabama had upset Alabama to reach the round of 32. Michigan also beat Xavier but I barely remember any details of the game
Fab Five blowing out East Tennessee State; also in Atlanta, after getting by Temple in first round; a forgettable affair. ETSU had upset 3 Seed Arizona. A game I was at but remember virtually nothing.
Another fun Fab Five game against Iowa State at the Palace

I’m forgetting a lot of home games probably. Road games are inherently more memorable imo.

I moved to Ann Arbor when I was 10. My dad and I had season tickets at Crisler for 1985-86, 1986-87, and 1987-88. Then we moved back to DC in 1989–the year they won it all.

My favorites were Gary Grant (“the general”) and Glen Rice, who debuted as a freshman in 1985. I always got a program, and I wish I had kept some of those.

If anyone lives in Seattle, hit me up.

A little bit late here but my first game was when I was 5 years old and “saw” Steph Curry drop 32 on us in his second collegiate game. I don’t actually have any memories from the game itself but I do remember my Dad taking my sister and I run out on the field at the big house afterwards. First one I actually have solid memories of was against Bryant in 2010-11 and at the time was our program record for 3 pointers in a single game. Some other memorable ones were the aforementioned 2018-19 UNC game, 2019-20 Oregon when Payton Pritchard went insane on us (and hit a phantom game winning buzzer beater, but they still beat us anyways), 2014-15 Illinois when Harbaugh addressed the crowd at half a few days after getting hired and we won an exciting game in OT, 2014-15 Wisconsin (national runner up that year) when Derrick Walton hit a 3 just before time expired to put the game into OT but we lost, 2022-23 Wisconsin when Hunter hit a 3 to put the game in OT and we won, 2021-22 Purdue. Also was at the aforementioned beatdown from Xavier and 2017 OSU loss. I think I need to find a better way to use all the space that’s storing all this information in my brain.

I remember the Davidson game. That was also my 2nd game as a student. I was like “who is this scrawny player who keeps scoring on Michigan?!?!?” lol

I was at that Davidson game and sat down on the old bleachers (yes, bleachers) and talked with Dell Curry about his son for several minutes. Even though Steph was just starting his collegiate career, Dell was very very proud of him.

Seth Greenberg screwed up big time by not offering Steph. VT was his dream school. It worked out great for Steph because he wouldn’t be Steph if he played at VT IMO.
