Los Angeles Lakers select Moritz Wagner with No. 25 pick

Mo is a late bloomer and just pasted his 21st birthday, there are plenty of room for him to grow physical strength. He is agile just not explosive, but added strength and experience should help him defensively.

For anyone who didn’t get it, that was a post of mine in April

I was at the draft last night. Wagner and his large entourage (of what I assume was just family) passed me minutes before the draft started. There was a pretty good reception from the crowd when he got picked.

Happy that he ended up with a big market team that will undoubtedly compete next season.

Luke Walton on Wagner:

“We like his energy, his skill set, his intelligence; we like the fact that he played for a really good coach,” Walton said. “We feel like he will come in right away and help our team. We are building a culture here and he brings a lot to the table. As far as the passion he plays with, his unselfish nature, the way that he sprints the floor, all these things that we’ve seen on film and saw live a couple of times when he worked out for us. We were really excited when he was still on the board at our pick.”
