Jaylen Brown - Will Likely Use OV for UM

If I were Beilein I would put Lavall Jordan on the next plane to Bishop O’Dowd or Mater Dei or Etiwanda or whatever and not let him leave until he poaches the best player in that state. This will not stand!

We have a Sweet 16 in the making in 2016…Anything more would be overachieving and anything less would be underachieving.

Do you think Brown even called Michigan to tell them he was going elsewhere or do you think he just did his thing with California?

Personally I like the kid and unlike WindsorBlue, I will root for the kid against all teams except Michigan.

Webb said he notified the coaches today that UM was out.

If you are John Beilein right now? What are you thinking?

Take a marketing and sales class

Cal might be the best college coach, in any sport, at marketing and sales. Kentucky had 35mpg for him at the SF position, is an NBA factory, and is the “IT” school (your words).

We can try to rationalize all we want, bottom line is we didn't get the job done..........yet again. No justifications at this point. Recruiting needs to improve in a BIG way.

Give it rest, we get it Beilein sucks a** at recruiting. Nobody is perfect, and no coach is great at every aspect of their job. Michigan has a very good team coming back next year, with the potential to be great if guys work had over the summer. The only thing adding Jaylen Brown would have done is turned next years team into a potential juggernaut.

  1. Walton

  2. LeVert

  3. Dawkins

  4. Irvin

  5. Doyle

  6. MAAR

  7. Albrecht
    8.Chatman

  8. Robinson

  9. Wilson

  10. Donnal

Redshirt TBD Wagner?

This lineup/rotation even without Brown is extremely explosive and deep. Michigan is 2 deep at every position and everybody not named Duncan Robinson and Wagner has DIV 1 playing experience.

Explosive…yeah,ok.

Walton, LeVert, Irvin, and Dawkins in transition is a nightmare for anybody. Doyle’s continued development is critical if they want to go from being very good next year to potentially great.

I know he’s just a kid but I’m pretty bitter.Either way we’re about to surprise, I’m very confident in that. Also bringing back max would be smart at this point.

There were some rumblings on some other boards that the assistants felt they were being restricted and that it was hurting them on the recruiting trail. Hopefully JB starts turning the assistants lose more. We should be recruiting like osu and msu, not pudue and iowa.

This explains some of the Bacari stuff then eh?

The job is wins and losses on the court. Beilein has done pretty well over the last few years, certainly better than what was expected of the classes he brought in. If that was just lucky it will become known soon enough.

Webb said he notified the coaches today that UM was out.

Did Webb say why he picked Cal and not UM?

Brutal that Cal is a better recruiting program than us.

Is Cal a better recruiting program than Kentucky?

No. Kentucky’s class is better than theirs.

Hopefully they’re pissed off at their recruiting failure for 2015 and make it their mission to get some good ball players in 2016.

JB is a really good coach! Great developer… I don’t think any right minded UM fan or CBB fan has debated that…It’s the recruiting aspect that frustrates many of us because we are Michigan.

Yeah, because guys like Manny, Hardaway, Burke, Robinson, Stauskas and McGary weren’t instant impact guys.

Yeah, Cuonzo Martin must be an ace salesman. I’d be willing to bet right now he’ll never once get his team to the national championship game.

There’s no question recruiting has been disappointing and needs to improve. But, from a big picture perspective, JB has achieved a lot here, and this year’s team may end up being quite good. I don’t think we are about to become Northwestern. I think once we get back to targeting hidden gems in the 30-100 range, which is the way the 2013 team was built, we’ll find our groove again.

Honestly I’m more bummed about how much time was invested in following his recruitment than the fact that he didn’t pick us. This whole debacle was one giant time-waster and there was way too much drama involved. I’ve kept my mouth shut the entire time because we had a chance of getting JB and it wouldn’t be proper to talk badly about a potential recruit, but Jaylen Brown is a drama queen. Everyone was saying how mature he was, but I think it’s very obvious that he got a thrill from being the center of attention. Why would a player be the last elite recruit to commit if they were going to pick Cal?

Yeah, because guys like Manny, Hardaway, Burke, Robinson, Stauskas and McGary weren't instant impact guys.

So are you FINALLY conceding that PT is no excuse…we just simply can’t land upper tier players?

Yeah, because guys like Manny, Hardaway, Burke, Robinson, Stauskas and McGary weren't instant impact guys.

LA Wolverine…Umm you just proved our point…We are getting hidden gems and proved that we can do that but can’t recruit high profile, upper tier players who are guarantee instant impact guys…These are mostly one and done guys, none of the guys you listed were of that caliber. Point Proved! Sweet 16 coming up this year with Brown could have been another run in the Final Fourt.

I’m not going to hate on the kid personally. He’s just a kid not even in college. I will critique his basketball game but he is a top 5 player, not a whole lot to critique there…I’ll be rooting for the kid! Never attack him off personally.

Keep in mind we have never been to the S16 or better without a minimum of 2 top 30 players, and a minimum of 5 top 100 players. Bottom line, for as much as we praise JB for development, he can’t win beyond an average level without the requisite players.
