Jaylen Brown - Will Likely Use OV for UM

Well Cal has much better weather, more scenic campus, will be a preseason top 15 team next year and has better looking girls on campus and in the state. His relationship with Rabb and Coach Martin must have been very strong as well. That’s why we lost.

If you are John Beilein right now? What are you thinking?

Take a marketing and sales class

Cal might be the best college coach, in any sport, at marketing and sales. Kentucky had 35mpg for him at the SF position, is an NBA factory, and is the “IT” school (your words).

We can try to rationalize all we want, bottom line is we didn’t get the job done…yet again. No justifications at this point. Recruiting needs to improve in a BIG way.

I can deal with losing out to UK, it's to be expected. But as I've been saying for the past 6 months, we simply can't continue to lose out to teams that are either relatively equal, or below UM in the pecking order. I mean, seriously, we just lost Jayken Brown to Cal. To Cal? Pathetic

You’d be okay losing to Kentucky, why?

Kentucky throw the kitchen sink at Brown and even they missed out him.

Hire better recruiters on staff.

Will any of you stay up late next year to watch Cal on ESPN? Usually Pasch and Walton broadcast those Thursday games in the PAC 12…I’ll be watching very closely.

Bring back beilfeldt now

How do you guys feel our assistants stack up among the country? Top 20? They are a big part of the recruiting cycle, of course JB needs to close the deal though.

Brutal that Cal is a better recruiting program than us.

I’m way less concerned with 1 recruit…especially one that had such a bizarre recruitment and then picked Cal over Kentucky, Kansas, UNC, etc.

More concerned with the other misses in the class.

Sucks to lose the chance for Brown. But if Calipari couldn’t convince him away from California, no way any other coach would either.

If one more upper class tech dude says this was because of the weather or the golden gate bridge in the fog I will freak. California = mediocre basketball program. Cuonzo = mediocre defensive-minded coach. Bad choice. As a protest against all that is wrong with the universe I will be cheering hard for Aubrey’s dad this season.

Dude, you sound like an idiot right now because you aren’t making sense. The issue wasn’t being the “IT” school or having a “marketing” expert of a coach. If those were the issue, John Calipari (do you know who that is?) would have landed Brown.

Hail - I know buddy, lord knows I do, that you love UM and JB, and I respect that. But at some point you simply have to stop using comparisons to what other schools can’t do as rationalization every time we miss a recruit or have a rough season. How about focusing on what we need to do rather than placing a handicap on us ? Reality is tha UK can lose out on Brown and everything will be just fine in terms of recruiting and on court performance. UM on the other hand, simply cannot land an upper tier, instant impact recruit. We swing, swing, swing…and miss every time for the past 2 (I honestly think it’s going to be 3) years. Im sick of it.

I think we all are. The question remains is JB sick of it too?

Give it rest, we get it Beilein sucks a** at recruiting. Nobody is perfect, and no coach is great at every aspect of their job. Michigan has a very good team coming back next year, with the potential to be great if guys work had over the summer. The only thing adding Jaylen Brown would have done is turned next years team into a potential juggernaut.

  1. Walton

  2. LeVert

  3. Dawkins

  4. Irvin

  5. Doyle

  6. MAAR

  7. Albrecht
    8.Chatman

  8. Robinson

  9. Wilson

  10. Donnal

Redshirt TBD Wagner?

This lineup/rotation even without Brown is extremely explosive and deep. Michigan is 2 deep at every position and everybody not named Duncan Robinson and Wagner has DIV 1 playing
experience.

If I am Michigan, I am getting on Ricky Doyle hard this summer if he takes the next step in his development then Michigan could be very similar offensively too what Duke was this past year with 4 elite level guards/wings surrounding a talented big. Doyle to me is being slept on by people, he played really well against Kaminsky in his last game of the season during the Big Ten tournament let’s hope he builds on moving forward.

It has gotten to the point where we as a fan base are ‘forced’ to get excited about an Austin Dacis commitment while rationalizing why we can’t land a single upper tier/instant impact kid. It’s just REALLY to the point where there are no more excuses about playing time, cheating, weather, the man on the moon…16 or bust.

We just won’t be able to land upper tier, instant impact recruits under JB. Let’s just call it like we see it. I’m not thrilled about this but we did have some great runs recently and I think we can do a couple other good runs soon like another Sweet 16 run this year.

We will have to wait for the next coach to reel in the upper tier instant impact recruits which so many of us want and expect the LEADERS AND THE BEST to do year in and year in. High Expectations…We are the University of Michigan.

Explosive…yeah,ok.

We’ll be fine with a good '16 class, but I don’t know how likely that will be. One or two solid players in '16 and a couple in '17…would’ve been nice to have a good 15, but it didn’t happen. I think it’s fair to be pretty frustrated if we blow '16.

All coffee should be removed from the basketball offices until further notice.
