My biggest threats were UCLA and Kansas. One has been eliminated but Kansas is still lurking and with the way Self has gotten Wiggins, Embiid, and Oubre. Kansas is returning Seldon, Mason, Greene, Graham, Ellis, a 5 star recruit in Bragg coming in, still in the hunt for Diallo. That could be very enticing for Brown.
Those are your biggest threats primarily because of the Adidas talk? Itās a fair argument, even though Jaylen then refuted this. So I would tend to agree. But Cal is also scaring me a lot. I thought we were the odd team out there, but Cal has been a weird one from the startā¦
It might be enticing for him, or it might look like a logjam. Honestly, I think our situation is ideal for him. We have several good upperclassmen who can play, and who can help him learn and excel in the offense. Yet we have a clear need for someone with his talents, and the starting role and significant playing time are there. I really think we are a top 5-10 team if we add Brown and everyone else stays healthy.

No it actually had nothing to do with Adidas. With UCLA they just got a 1 and done with Looney this past year. They have a very good recruiting class this year with Ali, Holiday. Next year they may have another one and done with Ball. UCLA recruiting has been picking up steam, Kansas has always been a recruiting juggernaut as well.
couple crystal balls (including Jerry Meyer) starting to pick Kirk to Kentucky, 4 this morning

Why would Kansas be a log jam but Michigan would be the ideal situation? Honestly that doesnāt make much sense and is probably a bit biased. Every school recruiting Brown has a clear need for his talent.
Yeah, Diallo announces tomorrow and it is apparently between Kansas and Kentucky. I have no idea what that will mean for us. It could be good or bad. He's a power forward so it likely wouldn't impact Brown's role on either of those squads since they'll both be stacked regardless.
Does it make any sense for a Michigan fan to hope he picks St. Johnās? I think him picking/not picking UK doesnāt affect much. Regarding KU, Iām not quite as sureā¦
He should announce today, or tomorrow at the latest! Then all eyes will be on Brown, and I doubt it will take long
Why a logjam at Kansas? Because in most years, they run an offense that is post oriented, and not real wing friendly. And in addition to the five wings already listed, they have Sviat too. Iād say six guys competing for PT at two positions is not a real playing time friendly situation.
On the other hand, we essentially have one more wing position than Kansas does, because our four is a position that Brown can easily play. Moreover, when it comes to wings with experience, we basically have Irvin and Caris, and I suppose Dawkins, who will no doubt come off the bench if Brown comes here. The Kansas guys mentioned were much higher ranked recruits, and have played a lot more than most of our other wing players. For example, youāre not going to bench Wayne Selden, but you might conceivably bench Duncan Robinson or Kam Chapman.

Kansas can still go with 2 bigs in Bragg and Ellis and itās not a true center but they can still do what they want with that. Off the bench you have Greene, Graham, Sviat. Diallo, Traylor, Lucas can backup Bragg/Ellis. This isnāt open heart surgery and we still havenāt talked about if Beilein can handle the possible 1 and done, a month ago he said he was thankful he didnāt have to deal with that stuff and those were his words.

If Beilein can handle the possible one-and-done?
He had said in the past he is open to one-and-dones. He recruited McGary when everyone assumed he was a one-and-done because of his age and recruiting rankings. And he is recruiting Brown, who will be gone after a year.

Are you going to be the one who refuses to believe he is coming to Michigan until you see him move into a dorm too?
MattR, Iām also in that camp of wanting to be optimistic but refusing to believe anything until I hear it straight from Jaylen.
Cheick Diallo to Kansas per Biancardi.

If true I have no clue how I should interpret that w.r.t. Brown.

This leaves Jaylen and Maker as the only top 50 prospects left though.
If Brown comes, Iād like to see them redshirt Chatman. There wonāt be many minutes available at the 3-4 positions, he is young for his class anyway, and Robinson and Wilson have already red shirted. Same might be true of Wagner but he might be less willing to take a year off when he could just have stayed in Germany to play. w
Iām with @jivan - Cal is scaring me now. While Kansas and Kentucky are out there picking up other recruits, Cuonzo Martin and Ivan Rabb are under the radar and could come out of nowhere to pick up his commitment. Definitely worried about them, now almost as much as the others.
I donāt put to much stock into the Crystal Balls but Michigan all the way to 50% of picks.

Nor do I, but itās a good feeling when a UK insider, a Kansas insider, and a UNC insider all have Brown to Michigan.

I expect Wagner may need the RS more than Chatman. I know people say he isnāt coming to RS but the same could be said about Chatman, who has spent a year learning the system and now needs opportunities to compete and grow as a player. Plus, Wagner seriously needs some Sanderson time or he will get pushed around. I see Chatman as first off the bench behind Irvin, with Robinson next. Anyway, itās all moot if they donāt get Brown.
