Jaylen Brown - Will Likely Use OV for UM

Cheick Diallo to Kansas per Biancardi.

If true I have no clue how I should interpret that w.r.t. Brown.

I was in the same state than you, and not sure how all those decisions affected brown. But I just figured out an interesting statistic: if Jaylen Brown picks Michigan then 11 out the top 12 recruits will have picked different schools (for the 247 rankings).
Of course, who cares in the end, but if you want to add some wishful thinking based on this stat, Diallo picking Kansas could eliminate them from the race.
(Btw, I know this is absurd reasoning)

I don't put to much stock into the Crystal Balls but Michigan all the way to 50% of picks.

Nor do I, but it’s a good feeling when a UK insider, a Kansas insider, and a UNC insider all have Brown to Michigan.

Definitely is. The only reason we haven’t gotten any picks from Cal insiders is because I’m not sure Cal insiders exist.

I heard that Brown’s high school coach tweeted out some form of timeline for Brown’s decision, can anyone confirm? I have no clue what his twitter handle is.

After Brandon Ingram's commitment, gut feeling JB commits within a week or so. #thedecision

closest I could find.

Now up to 62% on crystal ball

At this point, I think the mass crystal ball migration is probably just bandwagoning. A few stragglers still had UCLA and have shifted over.

On a related note – probably noted elsewhere on the forum – Kenny Williams has gone from “warmer” to “cool” for Michigan and the last 6 picks have been for Virginia. Is this based on anything other than the predictions re Brown? I hate to say I feel good about the cooling trend, but if it means that Brown to Michigan is imminent, bring it on.

The sudden jump to 62 from 50 was one additional pick to UM, but looks like all remaining picks to UCLA were removed (i.e. no replacement pick).

Not to get too greedy when we still have nothing, but do any of you think there’s any way Beilein sees Brown AND Williams entering the roster? Seems difficult to find another scholarship at this point, but I don’t know, just throwing this out there.
The fact that our chances with Williams seem to be dropping (I know, according to an unreliable source) tend to suggest that it would be one or the other, which makes sense. Would suck though if we ended up striking out on both based on all our expectations as of late

There is a near zero chance of getting both. None of the freshmen seem like they want to transfer, they are all very close. Donnal is the only I could see not being happy.

We could pull both if someone transfers. Believing has said he doesn’t expect any further roster attrition. Or if Wagner doesn’t come over.

Now the question could be could Brown’s potential commitment trigger one of those two things? By that mean if we actually get his official commitment.

Take it FWIW, as this is apparently Wheeler’s student section:

@travisjharris toss up honestly. Only school in his top 5 that i'm fairly certain he won't go to is Kansas. Other than that, no idea.

I don’t see any way that they add Kenny Williams if they land Jaylen Brown. I also think that’s why you are seeing people CB Williams elsewhere.

The most recent pick for UM is from a guy at Zags Blog. Doesn’t Zags Blog have some line of communication directly to Brown? I remember them being the ones to spread that the Cal/Michigan thing wasn’t true.

Zagoria isn’t what you would consider reliable.

It’s also from just someone he has working for him I believe.

Did Jaylen just update his wikipedia page?

I feel really good right now about him coming to AA…I think it’s a soon-to-be done deal. By this time next week, hopefully we are smiling from ear to ear about our 2015-2016 basketball team with Jaylen Brown’s name on our team! Gotta love wiki!

If Beilein can handle the possible one-and-done?

He had said in the past he is open to one-and-dones. He recruited McGary when everyone assumed he was a one-and-done because of his age and recruiting rankings. And he is recruiting Brown, who will be gone after a year.

So because of McGary that means he’s open to one-and-dones? I think it would take more than McGary and Brown if he even commits to say 2 guys over the span of 8 years means he’s open to the one-and-dones.

I was not being serious but it is funny to see his College under his wiki page says the Michigan Wolverines… That’s all I was pointing out. Sarcasm my friend!

Albrecht Shot Fake, Beilein has said many times that he’s open to one and done players. We went after Looney and Booker for 2014, Burke almost left after a year, so did McGary and Robinson. Obviously we’re recruiting Brown. And in 2016, any of our top targets like Thornton, Battle, Langford, and Leaf could be one and done guys. All JB has said is that any given player needs to fit the Michigan culture.
