Jaylen Brown - Will Likely Use OV for UM

Cool. At least I am not the only crazy one. He probably won’t be like LeBron in the NBA but he seems capable of being college basketball’s version of Lebron, to me…

I’m not an NBA guy at all but would Demar DeRozan make sense as a comparison to JB?

jaylen’s original list of schools included basketball powerhouses with mediocre academics like kentucky

then towards the end of the recruiting cycle brown sought out schools with stronger academic reputations like michigan, north carolina & cal

jb visited cal on his own nickel (not an official visit) & is tight with ivan rabb who he originally met on the victorious team usa in dubai

listen to his few public interviews, jaylen is articulate & thoughtful with a calculated (and private) strategy for selecting his college

I don’t like Lebron, but Jaylen is no Lebron. With some work Jaylen Brown could become a player similar to Jamal Mashburn. Thought of Brandon Roy but I don’t believe Jaylen will ever develop the handles or passing abilities Roy possessed. This very moment, Best comparison would be Stanley Johnson of Arizona. They’re the Same player and I give the slight edge to Stanley Johnson.

When I look at LAW’s predicted minute spllit I realize Michigan is going to be very good with or without Brown, if Chatman improves and Wilson is as good (and versatile) as I think he will be. Having said that I think Brown has the unique blend of size, strength, speed and height to play 1-5. I think he would be the best player or as good as every other player at their respective positions. Does anybody else have as wild of expectations about Brown that I do? He looks like a smaller version of LeBron to me…

Funny…I was thinking of NBA comparisons for Brown earlier today and the only player I could think of was Lebron.

This morning on WTKA Sam upgraded his feeling that Michigan is in Brown’s top 2 to a gut feeling. Trying so hard not to get excited.

Dingo I heard the same thing…don’t go burning bread! Can’t jinx it!

The Stanley Johnson comparison seems like a good one to me–in fact when I saw footage of Johnson playing they looked almost identical though Johnson seems a little bit more slippery and Brown looks a little more like a freight train when he slashes.

Johnson the better shooter, and probably better ballhandler at same age, whereas Brown is the better finisher.

Does anyone know what he is looking for? IE does he want to go somewhere with the greatest talent or is he looking for playing time (obviously with all the other stock answers - a great coaching staff, facilities, school, ect.).

Tyrelllmoore, that’s the million dollar question. At Michigan, he would obviously step in and play right away AND be surrounded by great talent. He would also get great coaching on what is probably the least strong part of his game, his jump shot. I didn’t want to say the “weakest” part of his game because he really doesn’t have any glaring weaknesses. But if he really wants to get to the next level as a lottery choice and have a long and productive NBA career, which I’m sure he does, one of the better shooting coaches in the nation resides in Ann Arbor at Michigan!

Really nobody knows. Even hearing things like who is his “top two” is unclear. The only thing people can say about this recruitment is that nobody can say they really know what Jaylen is currently thinking.

He reminds me of Harrison Barnes (UNC) some and has hair identical to Iman Shumpert. He went to Georgia Tech. Hope these are not bad ACC omens.

I just noticed Brown is listed at 6’7 and 175 pounds. How is that possible? I would have guessed 205 pounds.

Scratch that I now see him listed in other sites as over 210 pounds.

He’s got an NBA ready body…Very good size will be likely 6’7 220-225 when its all said and done. Best finisher in this class even though it is relatively weak compared to the Class of 2014. Great body and finishing at the rim go hand in hand.

He has a similar body/height than Jabari Parker. He plays a similar position. Would you rank him equally? Personally, I think that very few compare to Parker, and Brown’s ceiling compares to Parker’s slightly above average game. And this is a huge compliment for Brown in my opinion. Not trying to undervalue his game, I just have an immense respect for Parker

Just my opinion, but to me they are different players. Brown seems more in the Stanley Johnson, Justise Winslow mold. How those three will compare in the pros just depends on how hard they work and continue to develop. All three have the potential to be outstanding.

Michigan has recieved one prediction for landing Brown on 247…someone has hope he will be coming to Ann Arbor.

I keep getting paranoid when I think about how he would be the perfect replacement for Tokoto, Oubre (actually much better than Oubre), or Lyles, whereas he could conceivably have to compete for minutes/play out of NBA position at U-M. When I start to get paranoid, I just remind myself that it’s between us and Cal, so no worries. (Please don’t burst my bubble!)

I was all set to comment, Windsor, then I read the part about not bursting your bubble!
