Jaylen Brown - Will Likely Use OV for UM

Watching the espnu signing day special, Paul Biancardi says that sources close to Jaylen Brown have said they believe it is between California and Michigan

If that’s the case, I’d feel really comfortable with our chances.

Agreed…if that is accurate I think our chances are great at landing him. I hope his decision comes soon.

Goddammit. Now my hopes and expectations are way too high. Gonna be pissed if we lose him to Cal of all schools.

With how quiet Brown is, its hard to know if this is actually true, but this is the national recruiting analyst saying these words…hard not to believe him

I don’t see any reason to think Michigan vs Cal turns out good for us, even if by chance it is down to those 2, which may be far fetched as it is.

Here’s the quote from Biancardi on ESPN:

“This guys the best finisher in the class. When he gets in the paint and at the rim you can’t stop him. He can go over you, around you. A great second jump and a jumpshot that needs work. Sources close to his family told me it could be Cal or it could be Michigan for his final destination.”

I’m not sure I believe it’s down to Michigan and Cal. Let’s assume it is, though, for the sake of argument. Cal landed Ivan Rabb, which is a great get. Other than him, though, there’s not much talent on their roster, and Cuonzo Martin is an unproven coach who, as far as I know, has never had a kid drafted in the NBA. I realize Martin is doing a nice job with recruiting, and I realize he did a nice job at Tennessee and they stupidly let him walk. But as a coach, he’s still largely unproven. If Brown wants a better roster around him, and a coach who has developed six NBA draft picks over three years (I’m counting Caris, too), Michigan and Beilein are the logical choice.

Personally, I’m still not at all convinced it won’t be Kentucky, Kansas, or UCLA when it’s all said and done. Or Europe.

While my initial instinct is one of skepticism, and maybe I’m grasping at straws here, but why would Biancardi hang his hat on Michigan or Cal if he actually had little info on the matter? Seems like 2 of the more ‘unlikely’ schools he could have picked from the 7 possible destinations. Not that I know how reputable Biancardi actually is or whether he’s just throwing something that will stick in the miraculous case that he gets it right.

Why would you think this doesn’t have the potential to turn out well for us? If it comes down to the two I would feel great about our chances

Really? You see absolutely no reason whatsoever why it could turn out good for us if it’s just us vs. Cal? wow.

New (I think) Jaylen Brown highlights

Well, more of a season long mix it looks like.

I’m a very pessimistic person by nature and don’t generally believe in luck. If, however, there is ever a time to be blessed with luck, I would REALLY hope luck is on our side with Jaylen Brown

Actually cal could be very good with Brown next year

PG-Ty Wallace
SG-Jordan Mathews
SF-Jabari Bird
PF-Jaylen Brown
C-Ivan Rabb

Not much depth but that starting five is legit

You’re pessimistic by nature?!?! WHAT?!?!

If we get Brown I’m afraid there will be a lot of bad blood on the team from the Freshmen and Sophomores (stretch 4’s and wings).

Big boy business. There is potentially always someone ready to take your spot each recruiting cycle. This is what we should strive for ( talent infusion-upgrade ) every year.
