At least now (again, supposing Caris stays) we can guarantee Jaylen that he will be part of a great team, that will be competitive in the Big Ten, and is likely to make a good NCAA run. I think the pitch is even better now. But nobody is in Jaylen’s mind as every person in the US has noticed in the past few months.
Beyond rehashing the debate over being the man/getting 30 shots per game, I would expect Michigan to continue recruiting Jaylen Brown regardless of LeVert's decision.
If you have to put Hatch on medical, you do it…even if some don’t necessarily like it.
other sites/sources continue to hint michigan is in the top two/three per whispers and that the end of in homes may not be 100% accurate
edit: this is not basis the espn link above
Not that it matters whatsoever, but some of you were debating where Jaylen should be in the ranking. Apparently, he is now down 2 spots at number 4:

– I personally think Diallo should be top 5 –
I had a longer post written about Brown and his recruitment, team fit, etc, but then I realized every single topic on this guy has been exhausted on this board and the 24 pages of comments.
I just want the guy to commit somewhere so we can all move on. And yes, I’m holding on to a sliver of hope that it is Ann Arbor…
Wow…I’ll tell you what, I know most here don’t like it, but if I’m JB I’m telling Brown you will have a starting spot waiting on you in Ann Arbor (3 or 4 spot).
Wonder if Caris LeVert's return to Michigan has any impact on Jaylen Brown (http://t.co/lWf1mnSB6e)? Michigan is very much a factor w/ Brown

^ I have no problem with that.
The relative buzz apparently hasn’t died down. But I think that may be as much Michigan maybe being a factor as nobody knowing what Brown is going to do. Keeping fingers crossed.
Michigan is still in the mix for Jaylen Brown, also. No one has any feel for where Brown ultimately lands, but would be key missing piece.

Not that I don’t appreciate it, but Goodman does seem to give favorable amounts of coverage to Michigan.
MattD, I have no problem with that either. Play your 5 best guys.
FWIW Sam Webb hinted on the radio this morning that UM did do an in home with Brown and that they are in it very strong. Also said he wouldn’t say anymore because he didn’t want to harm UM’s chances because it is clear Brown wants no one to know anything.

Brown will start here regardless as mentioned above…you’d think this would only make Michigan a more appealing option to be surrounded by better players and another capable 40% 3 point shooter to space the floor for him and take pressure off of him to create. Although darn near all the other schools on his list can offer good teams as well so maybe that doesn’t move the needle much

I know some here get into the ‘well you don’t know until he hits campus’ type contention…but c’mon folks, let’s be real here…there aint no way in hell Brown isn’t better than Chatman, Wagner, Wilson right now. Pretty safe to say he would be the starter based on skill and athleticism, on both offense and defense.
That would compromise everything that Beilein stands for. That said, all you have to do is show him the staggering number of starts by freshmen over the past 3-4 years (as much as anyone in the country but Kentucky, I’d be willing to bet) and Jaylen’s own (well founded) confidence in his game would carry him to the same conclusion.
so if starting 5 were
walton
levert
brown
irvin
doyle
and spike is out… who is primary back up PG? Caris? MAAR? Can Brown be point forward?
also who gets the late shot clock touches? is it even? crazy to think about a healthy walton, levert, emerging zak and JB… pick your poison

MAAR would definitely be the best bet at backup PG, just based on recent history. I actually think he fits better there than as a SG (since his shot is just not that good).
I think you make a fair point. I honestly don’t expect everyone to stay healthy the whole year. Call me pessimistic, but the odds are against us (unless we view it as “all the bad luck we could have had is now passed”). So that’s why Jaylen Brown to Michigan would secure we wouldn’t go from top 10-30 to bubble team in case of injuries.

Maybe…but then maybe he should modify certain things. This is a big boy game. Its not always about playing nice. Above and beyond all, there is simply no way in hell that any of the options at the 4 spot are as good as Jaylen Brown, so that takes away the suspense/competition.
It’s not at all about being nice, it’s about culture. You think Harbaugh is promising any entitlements to anyone, top recruit or not?

Yes, I do. This is the same guy that makes gestures to the girlfriends of recruits. He understands that this here is a business…and I love it. Just win baby! UM football will be elite within 2-3 years, you can count on that.
