My feelings about this have somewhat changed over the past week… I’m now hopelessly optimistic about this guy. I don’t know why. It’s just been such a strange recruitment that I think he will do something strange and possibly come here…
I’m just hoping his family convinces him to come here, and he seems like a smart kid that would know that Beilien can help him develop his game.
Now that Kentucky has lost 7 underclassmen officially, people are probably thinking they are the frontrunner for Brown now…
Sounds like Brown will start narrowing his list in the next few weeks
I think it might be the whole primary ballhandler angle. Just a pure guess though
I’m not familiar with the offensive strategy of UCLA and Kansas…do they use other ball-handlers? I’m thinking like Alford (older boy) chucks a lot of shots. That seems more scary to me than Levert who has played second fiddle to Stauskas before and seems like he needs a Batman.
If he comes, I will be delightfully amazed.

I don’t see why Caris would scare Brown away?
Anywhere he goes there will be returning players that took shots this past year.

Yea I was wandering the same thing, why would Levert scare away Brown? If he really wanted to be the only good player on a roster, then he would go to Georgia Tech and he definitely wouldn’t go to UNC Kentucky UCLA or Kansas.
Old school Michigan jersey.
That’s an interesting way to do it!
I don’t put much stock into what Balas says, but if true, there is simply no way you take Wagner if it precludes Jaylen Brown, no matter how small the chances.
2015 hoops roster all but set. unlikely U-M will take another in 2015 to join German @moritz_weasley Moritz Wagner. http://t.co/p4HfhPqYnu

Someone took JB’s comments to the Scout board and wondered if they would have a spot. Sam chimed in and GUARANTEED, him emphasis, not mine, that there would be a place for Brown if UM was where he wanted to go.
I would guess they add nobody other than Brown though or someone decides to leave. I know a young big was considering it. I believe that is how the Mike Edwards started to pick up some steam. They like what they have seen out of DJ this year, so I would be surprised if they added Mike unless Levert leaves and they miss on Brown.

Webb is MUCH more reliable than Balas in my opinion…so I’m pretty comfortable that we’ll make room for Brown if need be.
Hasn’t Balas been the one guaranteeing Brown would not come to Michigan? It seems more like sour grapes than sufficient reporting. My guess is that Beilein is willing to give Hatch that final scholarship if Brown doesn’t choose Michigan, but will work out a medical scholarship if Brown does choose Michigan. Seems logical.

More likely that the door is left open a crack with the uncertainty on LeVert, and, of course, Brown is unlikely to pick Michigan, in any event, especially since Brown’s decision would be influenced by LeVert’s and Caris is not deciding until 4/26. IIRC, Brown is deciding prior to that.

If Caris waits all the way until 4/26…I would be really frustrated with that. He knows damn well the position we’re in and he has to know his draft stock is somewhere between 25-40. Bottom line, he’s taking a huge chance that he’s not going to get a guaranteed contract because he’s viewed as an injury risk. That being said, give it a week, and make up your mind Caris.
I don’t know red shirt rules. But would someone like dawkins or MAAR be able to red shirt their sophomore year even though they played as freshmen?

They could. You have 5 years to play 4. It doesn’t often happen that someone redshirts after playing as a freshman unless they are injured. But theoretically, they could redshirt.

They could still redshirt (each player is allowed one non-medical redshirt year) but I think it’s highly unlikely that either player would be okay with doing so. Plus, it wouldn’t help with the scholarship situation as they’d still count against the 13.
