Isaiah Livers out indefinitely with "stress injury" in right foot

Are there other types of “stress injuries” to a foot besides a stress fracture?

A stress reaction is a lesser injury on the same spectrum of injury. It is typically considered a faster recovery. Typically it depends on how early it is indicated. If Livers was trying to “play through the pain” then this is probably a fracture, if he reported it to the staff yesterday and they sent him for an MRI quickly, he may have just a reaction.

Next.Man.Up. Juwan and staff get a chance to demonstrate their coaching chops now. Chaundee and John’s must carry the load. Hang tough team. #GoBlue

This whole thing is devastating. Probably my favorite Wolverine. Such a team leader and a rock for the program.

On a more mundane level, hard to see how they keep up with OSU’s scoring without Livers tossing in 3s like layups.

Ahhh man, idk where to start. Hopefully for Isaiah he can rehab and get healthy, a miracle would be to have him back in the big dance.

This time of year its just survive and advance, we are a brotherhood and we will try to step it up in Livers absence!

Any word if Kyle Young will be ready to go for OSU?

Every foot injury that I can remember has been referred to this way in press releases (LeVert, Horford, etc.), so I’m not sure. I assume its just a way to say as little as possible about the severity.

If I am seeing this correctly for what its worth, before the announcement we were a 6 pt favorite in Vegas and now we are 5.5 pt favorites after the news has broke, the line didnt swing immediately like I thought it would.

I feel awful for him. Not only does it suck to have your dream season end with you on the bench, but his decision to come back probably ended up raising as many questions (will he ever be healthy?) as it answered (he can defend wings sufficiently for the NBA).

I was looking at that today. Must have something to do with Kyle Young out for Ohio State as well. Also, putting my doctor hat on this tells me that Livers will be back for the sweet 16! We just gotta get a good draw and through that first weekend!

To my eye he’s been laboring for two weeks. I can’t recall which post-layoff game it was but I recall him limping off at the end of one of our games - wouldn’t shock me if that was it.

He landed on Austin Davis’ foot going up for a rebound against Illinois right?

Also, take this with a huge grain of salt, but someone on Reddit claims to be his cousin and is saying that it’s a broken foot and that he’s done for the season. They mentioned that last night when the rumors started swirling.

Idk how the committee considers indefinite vs. out for the season type injuries (if at all), but if it truly is a broken foot, that could possibly explain why UM is alluding to a potential return with “indefinite.”

My assumption is that there is absolutely some kind of break and the difference between “reaction” and “fracture” is degree and not type.

So disappointed for a young athlete that appears to embody doing things the right way. The team should be able to handle his absence better than Brooks (would expect that statement to be even more heavily disputed by non Michigan fans). I’m hoping for a fairly tale return for Livers in the Final Four, but not expecting it.

Livers is a better player than Brooks, but I think given that we really only have two guards, I agree with your statement - when we lose Brooks it means 7-8 minutes of Zeb or lineups where only 1 guy can dribble.
