Game 6: Penn State at Michigan Open Thread

Stop the count!

Seems like the plan was to go offense-defense with Hunter and TWill. Juwan might have wanted the timeout earlier.

I think he CAN - he took enough 3’s in Germany for it to be statistically significant, but what’s striking is how passive he is offensively. He does very very little so far this season. Last year he got shots up…

Wowzers are we overreacting a bit here. Wagner has a 120 ORtg this year. He’s perfectly fine as a tertiary piece. The issue isn’t his effectiveness, it’s that he’s not the primary offensive option that the team really needed.

I’m glad we got the W and I’m glad that Williams was smiling after the game. He’ll get there from the line, eventually.

Chill this is a roast of Franz thread

He’s also our best rebounder

It’s not really over reacting to say a guy everyone had as first or second team Big 10 scoring 7 ppg is disappointing?

It’s not he can’t shoot 3s, he’s not taking the shots.

Really hoping Franz steps up. Normally I’d say maybe it wouldn’t be terrible if he plays well but not well enough to go pro after the season but I’m not sure how much it will help him to come back next season with the class coming in.

I do think he will improve and like others have pointed out he’s helping in other ways besides scoring. He has too much talent to not score more.

Solid win, home court seems greatly diminished this season for all teams so I will gladly take any Big Ten win against a solid team.

That’s the point. He’s not who we need him to be to be an above average team. To compete with the top of the conference we needed Franz and Livers to be 1A/1B. Right now, neither of those guys fill that role.

Come on. It’s not unreasonable to say he’s not what anyone expected this year. He was everyone’s choice for best player on the team, and expected to be all conference.

he’s not scoring 7 PPG so…

I think we can survive with one of them being a complimentary option if Hunter continues to shine.

that’s fair. But I believe many of the takes here have crossed over from ā€œI thought Franz would be betterā€ to ā€œFranz is just not goodā€

He’s been pretty efficient this year. To me his struggles seem to be finding his place in the offense. I hope he finds it at some point this year

If that was what was actually said then no, it would not be. Alas…

That was one of the best things for me, seeing the smile and the excitement on TWill’s after the game. Yep, for me it falls in place right behind seeing the extreme confidence and calm demeanor as Isaiah buried those two FTs to ice it at the end.

Franz not meeting our expectations is a separate statement from he isn’t a good offensive player.

Penn State played some damn hard basketball. This is a good win for a team that has so many players who aren’t accustomed to the level of ferocity that takes place in this conference. Oh, and Dickinson is a legit stud.

My apologies, he is now at 9, which is what we all expected, right?

It’s going to be tough at some point for Dickinson to be relied on for 30% usage rate. The hope was Wagner and/or Livers would start taking more of that load, but it hasn’t been happening. There’s going to be teams with much better centers than what we’ve seen so far.
